98 MAXIMA WHEEL Question

Hi all, now I know I should be posting in the wheel forum but it has been like 3 days and no reply's! So since this is a 4th gen issue, will the 17's of a 350z go all the way around a 4th gen maxima without rubbing or any problems with 235-45-17 tires on it? And I am wondering if I can go all 17x8's all around which is 2 sets of the rear 350z rims, or should I use the 7.5 width wheels in the front or back? some suggestions would be helpfull as well with some pics, if anyone has any!

And for the record anyone ever put lexus rims on their maxima?

You might want to post the offsets with the wheel sizes, it makes it easier to tell if they will fit. IIRC the 17x8s are +33 that should fit fine. I would look for 8s all around, staggered does not really help the Maximas performance.

Lexus/Toyota (factory) rims use a smaller center hub than Nissan and have to be custom machined to fit.

17x8 all around is awesome. Go with a +35 offset for the front, and ~ +30 for the rear so they will be flush with the fender.

So a +33 offset all around will not be flush with the fenders? How much will they stick out?

+33 should be close to flush on the front (should not stick out) and slightly inset on the rear.
17x8.5 +35 with 255/40/17 flush fit

17x9 +34 255/40/17 sticks out about 5mm

Got two of my babies in! 17x8 with Michelin pilot sport as 235/45/17 rubber, waiting for the other two wheels, have the tires which are getting lonely.

cant wait to get the other two and put them on, will keep you guys updated

Also poll: 17x8 offset 33 OEM 350Z wheel vs. 17x8 offset 33 OEM G35 wheel which weighs less and looks better on a 4th gen in your opinion? please post any pics or ur opinion is

... just kidding

Hi everyone.
Didn’t feel like starting another thread so will post another question. Will 18x8 with a 50mm offset fit? Or is there a way I can make them fit! Looking at the RX-8 Mazda wheels, and i think they would look awesome on a 4th gen since they are 5 spoke!!! Let me know if wheel spacers can fix the problem? Help much appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!

AlpineGt66,

My 350z Enthusiast wheels are on the way too and I was wondering the same thing about wheel fitment. Reading up on other posts, it looks like fitment will be fine but wheel gap will be more obvious due to the lower offset. My tires are 235/50/17 and 225/50/17's. It was shipped parcel post so I think its gona take a few days from across the country.

Is your car dropped? I have stock suspension on my I30t. I'll see how it is. If it doesn't look better then stock rims, I may sell them off as I got a great deal on them.

Yeah my car is dropped, i will post pics up with them on soon. You have a staggered set it look's like by the tire sizes so your widths are offsets vary. I have the same wheel all the way around, to be precise all (rear) 17x8's with 235/45/17. You should post pics up when you get them on your car. And i will too. I just wanted to know if the Rx-8 wheels would work! I have a set of staggered 17 350z wheels coming in soon too. Let me know if you want two wheels so you can have the same wheel sizes all around! or a trade.

I listed the top wheel wrong, it's a 17x8.5 +40 (Enkei RPF 1 ) They are the street wheels for my Z32 ... but they find their way on the Maxima at times, they are on it right now. The 17x9s are track wheels with race rubber.... I just put 275/40/17s on them....

Here's a link for H&R spacers.. http://www.optionimports.com/spacers.html
If your going to use spacers don't get cheap and damage your car when a wheel falls off, get quality hubcentric spacers

they are about 100 bux a pair including studs...some will give cons but i run 20mm spacers and have no issues....and i track my car regularly....just get good ones like H&Rs or Eibach

The track wheels are Halibrand Cobra IIIs 17x9 +34 www.discounttiredirect.com carries them. They are heavy around 28lbs, they were the right size and offset for what I wanted to test on my Z. They will be replaced with light weight 17x10s for next year.

If I were going for wheels for the 4th gen I would be thinking 17x9 +40 all around. I might add a 5mm spacer in the rear to fill out the rears

here they are guys, thanks for all the help so far! I am just still hungry for wider tires. Was wondering what other tire's people are running on a 17x8 rim? I am running 235/45/17. Was wondering if I could go a tad bit wider all around?
