I would be weary if my bumper was brand new as well but it won't melt, the OEM tip (especially with the finisher) will not be very hot. I have had my tip TOUCHING the bumper and it never affected the bumper. Just FYI.

99-03 catbacks fit on our cars i think, I tried it yesterday, but couldnt get my cat off of my old bpipe but for the looks of things, EVERYTHING lines up. so i will be using a stock 02 catback for awhile, AND IF IT FITS CORRECTLY.. I will be getting the greddy EVO2 catback made for 5th gens but on my car
