Jacked up Floor Pans

I went to have new tires put on, on my 20's and it was about an hour from where I lived but I saved over $400.00 on the tires so it was worth driving to east bumble... anyway... they don't use regular lifts, they use car jacks, well they jacked up my car and about 2 or 3 days later I noticed that my rear floor pans have been pushed up about an inch and a half... so they didn't jack up on the mounts, instead the floor pans. Which in turn turned the 4 gas lines that ran along it from horizontal to vertical, so I scrap with I go over any bump. I am wanting to fix this problem, but taking a hammer doesn't do all that much. I was wondering SINCE there are gas lines running under the car, if I pulled out all of my carpeting and applied a little heat via heat gun or a torch to heat it up and knock out the dents easier? I just didn't want to blow myself up by having that much heat or an open flame, even though its going through all the metal. Any ideas?

I would advise against high temperatures around gas, even if its thru the metal, it will make the gas volitile and its just overall not a good nor safe idea.

It might be a little more envolving/tedious but, drain the tank (or run the fuel low) remove the lines, or unbolt and move to a safe alternative position, then maybe heat and bend back into shape. Key thing would be to get the dangerous fuel lines out of the way.

good luck . . . please dont kill yourself.

Doesnt really look that bad. If it concerns you so much why didnt you go back to the shop that did that and tell them what happened?

Because he won't do anything about it, he gave me the cash for the wheels he messed up, and said he didn't do it. But no other floor jack has ever touched my car, only lifts. So, I just let it slide since he paid me enough money to purchase 2 new wheels he messed up.

I get cars with these problems all the time, some people just don't understand that floo pans are not meant to be used to jack up the car. Anyways, take a 2x4 and a big heavy hammer and bang it out. Comes out easily, just make sure the end of the 2x4 is not on the corner of the carpet where it curve up in the middle or you might rip the carpetting.

wow. Quality shop there. I'd advise you pay the extra $400 next time, that's just ridiculous IMHO. There's just no excuse.

I dont think banging right above the fuel lines is a good idea.

better than using a torch, and i'm sure they see harsher conditions on a gravel or really bumpy road

Banging it out is what any body shop would do. And every person I know that does body work recommended using a 2x4 to do it. But I will pull all of the carpet up and do it. I just didn't know if a little heat to make the hammering a little easier would be advisable or not. I didn't think a little would hurt, but knowing there are fuel lines there I wasn't positive. I will try to get on it this weekend and see how it comes out. I will keep everyone updated. Please leave feedback if you have any other useful information on making this situation easier.

But as far as the saving money, I will purchase my tires from him next time as well, however I will just buy them and have them mounted elsewhere. The savings is worth it. I got them for $550, and everyone else was quoting me around $1000.00. So it was worth it, but I will take it to a rim shop with a REAL lift. Thanks for everyones input tho guys!
