Clutch Recommendations
Those who have experience with aftermarket and OEM clutches please chime in....
I have a 99 SE with some mods (00VI, CAI, Y, cat back, custom traction bars, etc.) and if all goes well, a 75 shot in the spring. I need a clutch now and can't decide between the 5th gen clutch or Spec Stage II or similar aftermarket clutches. Problem is... OEM specs measure pressure plate clamping force in lbs. (1400 and some change to be exact) and aftermarket clutches measure in ft/lbs. of holding power. Maybe someone has an idea how to compare?
I've heard that the 5th gen clutch is made by Exedy and is the same as the Exedy Stage I. Any truth to that?
There is a difference I see is cost at this point. The 5th gen can be purchased for just at or near $200 when most aftermarket are in the $300 range.
I just don't want to purchase the 5th gen, spend the hours installing, and then find that it won't hold at the track with the power.
Suggestions please.

I would be good to decide wheather or not you will run the 75 shot in the spring. That is going to make a difference. the 5th gen clutch will perform well, with your current setup, but result will vary when you add the 75 shot.
A Spec Stage II would be more than enough for your current setup, and would be able to handle the 75 shot. As it is now, the spec would be overkill.
in redards to exedy making our oem clutches, I heard something to that nature but cant offer a definate answer.
If you plan on spraying a lot, and going to the track a good amount of times, might want to setup up the clutch so it can handle the abuse it will get.

Thanks MDeezy, I read that post a while back. From all my reading, the 5th gen is great for a DD, but not great for track use. I guess I'm looking for a good combination clutch for an hard driven DD that sees the track a few times a year.
