New VSS didn't clear P0500
My title pretty much says it all...
I run into a comment once in a while where some folks are taking out the cluster and tightening some screws. Can someone point me there?
It seems like if the VSS was bad, the speedo would read zero. It doesn't; it's pretty accurate. It never drops to zero, except when it's stopped. My theory is that there's a wire somewhere between the speedo and either the speed control or the engine control units. Does that sound right?
Car's running perfectly. So I don't understand why that yellow light with a P0500 would be there.

Can you point me to instructions on how to tighten the screws?
Which ones are they?
It looks to me that to get the cluster out, I remove the panel above my legs, then take off the steering column cover, then the trim around the guages, then pulling the guages, right? That doesn't seem too hard, at least compared to changing a water pump and a radiator. Are we talking two hours here?

You are correct about about removing the cluster. Remove the panel above your legs, then the steering wheel column trim, then the black trim around the cluster, and finally the 3 screws that hold the cluster in place. It will not take more than half an hour.

SAME ISSUE
i know im late but i have the same problem i though it was because i did the speed limiter cut of the pink and blue wire...i cant pass inspection.. i have tighten the screws and a new VSS help please..i have also tried to add wire to the limiter and electric taped it back together

There was no need to add on to this thread. The post stated that if tightening the screws DOES NOT WORK, you need to REPLACE THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE.
