Clutch issue

Recently while driving the last couple shifts have felt weird. The peddle felt noticably different and then eventually stopped working and lost all its resistance and sticks to the floor or comes back up but with no resistance. All the parts including the hoses and the slave were replaced about a year ago when the similar thing happened but it never stayed on the floor just lost its resistance. I looked at everything and there was still fluid in the resivoir but it was very low. I looked at the two spots where you could bleed and tried and followed the hoses didnt see any leaks or signs of leaks. It did look like it was leaking a bit near the bottom bleed spot but it wasnt comming out of hole. Is there a spot around there it commonly leaks? Is there an easy way to tell if its hydraulic pressure related or if its my release fork?

something like this happened to my old car when I was driving on the freeway. I was shifting and then the clutch pedal lost all of its resistance because the cable that goes from the pedal to the tranny came out of the tranny somehow.

You have a leak somewhere. If you can't see a leak under the hood, try looking at where the piston goes into the master cylinder on the inside of the car. Also look around the master cylinder on the firewall too.

There is no cable that goes from the pedal to the transmission.

there is a leak near the piston thats what i was trying to explain. Its like on the tranny near where you bleed the system. What exactly leaks there?

Your clutch hydraulics have gone bad. It's either the clutch slave cylinder or master cylinder.

would that cause it to completely do nothing not even move the piston near the transmission though? plus there was still fluid in the system when it all failed. Just trying to find a way to eliminate the release fork since i already replaced most of the hydraulic system about a year ago.

The piston near the tranny never retracts away from the fork. If the slave cylinder lacks the force to push in the clutch springs, you won't see any movement in the piston.

I replaced the slave cylinder where the leak was still feels like the pedal does absolutely nothing. The fork feels flimsy too so im almost certain the fork is broke or disconected. Has anyone here replaced their fork and how hard is it to do?

to replace the fork you have to drop the tranny. if the retainer clip on the fork broke, you have to drop the tranny. if the frok for some strange reason just came unseated and the retainer clip is still in place, you may be able to reposition and reseat the fork without dropping the tranny, but it's highly unlikely that thats the case.

Would u consider it a job that can be done myself or will i need to pay a mechanic. I do a lot of work on my car but never anything as advanced as dropping the tranny.

It's time consuming to do it without air tools or a tranny jack, but it can be done DIY and alone.

IME it helps a lot to have long extensions or low-profile ratcheting wrenches to reach some of the bolts that face toward the engine.
