97 Steering wheel in 95/96

I have tried to find link for this conversion... I'm sure it's been covered before! Can anyone direct me to one or give me the details of what install/swap requires. I really like the look of the 97 steering wheel (98/99 same??) and would like to swap...IF it isn't a huge PIA . Thanks!! Doug

i think the biggest pain is the cruise control buttons...there maybe some rewiring needed....but other than that I am pretty sure it will swap right over....but there is that spot of doubt

you'll just have to get the steering wheel out of a 97-99 and an airbag out of a 97/98, IIRC the 99s had "gen 2" airbags as opposed to 97-98 "Gen 1" airbags.

to get it put in you'll have to remove the airbag, there are some torx screws holding it in on the sides. you'll also probably need a steering wheel puller, which you can probably rent.

If I get a 97 steering wheel with an airbag: do the electrical connections (whatever activation connections) directly plug into 95/96 connections at wheel? Do I keep 97 cruise control module mounted on wheel and connect to electrical leads from 95/96 at the wheel module/inside steering column (same leads?...plug n play? or different with "customized" connection?) I really appreciate any detailed connection experience going beyond pulling existing/ installing new wheel. Thank you for replies!!!! Doug
