Funny story :-D
So, I work at a Kia dealership in FL right, so I'm working on my car and this kid comes up in here, looks my car over, and tells me his Kia Spectra will beat mine. Its a 2.0 4cyl with exhaust and lowering springs. He just put NYLON MOTOR MOUNTS and a stage 3 clutch in it... I was like 'oh ok, so uh, whats it run in the 1/4?' hes like 'well, idk but i think it will run 10's in the 8th!' I started laughing at him and continued my work. When I let my car down from the lift he started asking me about my CAI and if it whisles or anything, I was like 'uhh no..' When I got back from my test drive he was like 'Dang man! That sounds mean as f*kk...' I just walked away... what a retard...

Oh, and then he tells me about all the things hes gunna do his to ride. Hes talking about doing all this internal work and putting a turbo on and stuff. I was like 'why bother with a kia dude?' he got pissed and said he'd be pushing like 400hp. I told him he's gunna blow it up and throw a rod or something.. haha

Why bother with a Maxima? What's scary is that his car has a longer warranty than Nissan gives a new '07 Maxima. I'm sure Kia stands behind their product so much they can offer that warranty w/o jacking up the price. You'd hafta get the expensive nissan extended warranty to play. Why's nissan extended warranty so expensive? Anyways, I'm sure the kid will do his research and build a sleeper that'll be much better than stock. Give the kid a chance.

Anyways, Kia's finding it's niche as a brand. But aside from the marketing/media influences, Kia builds cars, something that not many on this board have done. If they were as bad as some people think, Kia should have closed up shop here in USA already. Kia's been setting sales records every year here in America for the past 13 years, including the aforementioned Spectra which is in high demand. Even if you don't think they're hot now, they will be in the future.

First of all, the warranty is only good if you keep up on your mantainance, 5ks 15ks 30ks 60ks so on.. if you dont get those done you void your warranty. The electrical systems and computers in Kias are years behind other manufacturers. The fact that I work on the cars I've come to hate them. I've had 6 of the vans and 3 of the full size cars break transmissions before 50 miles. Bottom line, Kias suck. Maybe in the future they will figure out what they're doing, but for now, its kind of hit or miss with them. We've had to replace several motors as well.

Shaq drives a Kia as Kia is now the Official partner of the Miami Heat.
Point is, the reason Kias are so popular is because they're simply the cheapest new cars. period. A car buyer only has the money for a used car, but wants a new, no frills commute car, and bam, another Kia sold. Speaks nothing at all to their quality, which if you've made the connection yet is in the same league with Geo...

Kia offers a longer warranty than Nissan because they have to in order to sell cars. It's a marketing strategy that helped get people into Hyundai dealerships a few years ago. I thought I read that Mitsubishi was starting to do the same thing after all of the problems they were having too.

Kia doesn't DO luxury or performance. They do economy. Kia, Hyundai, Saturn, Geo... none that I know has put much R&D into a fun/sports car, and thus, you will find their cars neither fun nor sporting. And say what you want about the Tiburon, I like it in a way but it's really nothing special.

when was the last time you saw a new GEO on the road?
They are trying to make more luxurious car, and some more sporty cars, check each manufactures web site and their car line up, you'll see.
as Pieps stated. . . the Sky is their sporty car.

Lol that's funny cause i actually tried drying my car like that. One time I took up from a stop sign and didnt see the cops there where like 50 feet from the stop sign and VROOOM i passed them, and they pulled me over. Said, "Turn the car OFF and put the ****in keys on top of the hood" I'm from a bad area and around that time there was allot of bull**** killings going around so there temper was ridiculous. He comes over telling me you were doing about 70 mphs when u passed us, and they was only like 50 feet from where i took off, that **** to me was a compliment. He was like and your exhaust is way too loud, I smirked and said nah thats a stock muffler its the cold air intake, his dumb *** was like "oh so your car is unsafe to drive, you know we can toe it for that" Anyway dey made me get out da car and searched me, but i got a good friend of the family that's a cop and dey let me go. I had no insurance or registeration on it neither
