belt squeal
#6
Yeah, tighten that baby up. My last belt replacement was done by myself. I didn't tighten the pulley bolt too tight, now it's slipping away and making the squealing noises. It gets worse everyday from once or twice to almost always. Then I got down there and tightend it up, it's done gone.

You might want to check your harmonic balancer. Last night i was doing an oil change on my GF car....i had left my 95 SE running. I heard belt squeal so i went outside and sure enough it was my car. COme to find out the belt blows a few seconds later....i ended up finding the outer pulley ring worked its way over the inner one towards the timing cover. 245,000 miles

Good call, I did blow out a whole pulley from the alternator one time, from tighten up the tensioner too tight.
I then took the alternator out to Autozone for a replacement. I had to strategically blame it over to Autozone and make it sound like it was their crappy alternator's fault that this had happend. Got a whole new alternator for free.
