Bose system. Cassette player reset?

My cassette playe just stopped working when I started the car. I'd be tempted to think it died but I'm wondering if there is a way to reset it and extract the tape. i ask because it never acted up at all so maybe it just flaked. I press tape and it won't switch over from the radio and I can't get a reaction from the eject button at all. Anyone?

Long shot, but you can try disconnecting the battery for a while. If that doesn't help, you can always remove the radio and try to extract the tape if you really need it. in my old car, I had a CD stuck in there, and the HU wouldn't go into CD mode at all. I cut power to the HU for about 1 hour, then when I reconnected it, it spat the CD out, and everything worked fine ever since. Dunno if this will help your tape deck, but it couldn't hurt to give it a shot

Yeah, but I still use the cassette player for my iPod. And an iPod is better than a CD...

My Bose tape deck is possessed. Everytime I crank the car, the tape deck tries to eject a tape, whether or not there is one in the slot. It's really getting aggravating. I'd be happy if the tape deck would just die!

It is my ipod cassette thing that is stuck. cd's are lame. I guess there is no way to reset it. i'll try the battery as soon as it's above 20 degrees and not windy as hell. Hope it works but who knows. Seems weird that it just stopped on a dime when I hardly ever use the car.

I bought that crappy adapter because my tape wouldnt work, I probably returned the FM transmitter in less time than you did. Huge waste of money.

Keep trying the eject button....even when the FM is on. That deck has a mind of it's own and might just burp your cassette up. Mine just keeps cycling like there's a cassette in there. If I do put one in..it will suck it down and eventually spit it out. Once in a while I can actually get the deck to work, but the problem keeps reappearing. Really weird.

I agree on the FM modulators...tried the more expensive one from Monster and ended up taking it back...I'll do CDs before I use one of those things again.

I keep trying the eject button. I hope it gives up the ghost soon. The lack of music sux! Good thing I don't drive that much or I'd be going crazy by now.

Good luck, my Dad's pathfinder was having trouble with the tape player and he just had to get a new stereo because nothing worked. It was possesed and making all kinds of crazy noises, like it was trying to spit a tape out, even thought there wasnt one in there. Luckily (since he hates technology) my brother was able to find him another stock stereo on ebay. If you have to get a new one try that, he was able to find the same cd/tape combo style that he had before and liked.
