I have found some rims that I like, however, they only come in either 17 x 7.5 or 18 x 8.5. Which ones should I get. I want them to look good, but I really want to keep as good a ride as possible. These will be matched with H&R's.
Oh, and what tire size is suggested?

If you get the 18s, you will have to go with lower profile tires than you would have if you got the 17s. Lower profiles=rougher rides. The proper size in 17s is 235/45-17 and in 18s, 245/40-18. And are you getting both the springs and struts from H&R, or just the springs? If you change one, you might as well change the other.

Listen to medicsonic!

Trust me and take the 17"s. I made the mistake of getting 18"s, and corrected it immediatley by getting 17"s. Although, 18s may look nicer, the Maxima will ride firm enough on the 17"s. The difference is major, not just 1 extra bump out of 100. More like 89 extra bumps out of 100. I took the 17"s, and I'm happy except these have too much wheelwell room, so I am getting Weapon-R coilovers. If you are gonna drop the car with H&Rs, take the 17"s.

The proper tire size for 18s is 235/40/18.

I agree w/ Vyrus...everyone wants 18's these days...get 17's..you can make em look just as nice by lowering your car and get a Much smoother ride. Practicality.

You are wrong. That size is too big. You also need to discover the caps lock and puncuation buttons.

Okay children, that's enough. 235/40-18s will be off by .3 percent, and 245/40-18s by 1.4 percent, using 235/45-17 as the base. However, if you go back to the recommended tire size for 17s from Nissan (225/50-17s), the 235/40-18s will be off by 1.8 percent, and the 245/40-18s would be off by 0.5 percent. So BOTH answers are correct.

I will concede that either size will work. Mercedes Benz uses 235/45/17 on the E430 and 245/40/18 on the front of the E55, so they must be close. I guess I was thinking of the 245/45/17s that Stillen had on the orginal SMX. The car looked stupid with those big tires.

I would recommend 17" rims. I have 17's and man, the ride is already pretty harsh even with the "soft" H&R's. I think the ride with 18's would be a nightmare.
