the word "tune up" is a misnomer on modern cars. don't go to a shop and ask for one, they will find every conceivable way to rape you.
just follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual and you'll be fine. and take care of problems (such as coil packs and O2 sensors) as they occur.
if you are truly having substandard fuel economy (<17mpg in winter w/ city driving) I'd start by checking the condition of your plugs. black carbon fouling = running rich or leaky injector. folks here will help you troubleshoot from there.

Just change the plugs and filters. If you do not notice a considerable increase then you may want to look into geting new coils/injectors.
Also you may want to change the fluids if you already haven't. Tranny and coolant are probably the most important and if you went all out you could change the power steering and brake fluid as well. This will not help your car get better mpg but it should be done if you haven't in the last 30K.

Yep, they might even suggest a hi colonic while you're still bending over.
This procedure will be listed as a complete lube job at most dealerships

I think i'm gonna start with the plugs and filters and see how the car runs from there.

Perform a 60K service and see how it runs from there.... do the simple and most obvious first. If that doesnt make the car improve, then take it a step further into the next most likely variable.

Well if your even due for a tune, use the ngk platinums or iridiums. Mechanic says they last very long time i.e. 80k before next tune-up, could be wrong.
Anyhow, its been 2 yrs of constant driving and mine runs great MAXED OUT!
