INJEN CAI Intake Install Help

I recently got my hands on an Injen intake for my 4th gen. I got all parts and I'm ready to install, only problem is that there wasn't an installation guide or something like that included in the package. I know installing a CAI is pretty much straight forward, but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction so I can install everything properly. I've searched through the forums but I've only found info on 5th gens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

pretty simple. Just remove the battery and the fuse box located sort of beside the battery. And of course take a hole saw and make a 3inch hole just below the battery. Hope that helps

incorrect.

the Injen CAI does not go through your fender wall. It drops the filter straight down just behind the radiator. Remove your stock intake tubing up to the throttle body and then you should be able to put the Injen one in pretty easily. The batter shouldn't have to be removed either unless you find you need the extra room to work in.

Yep. No cutting involved.
Just take out the stock intake and hook up the Injen so the filter is positioned down behind the radiator.

Yeah he's got a HAI, not a CAI. There is no cutting at all. Just put the pieces together and take off the stock intake and attach the Injen. Good luck with the Injen in Texas...

Take off only the midpipe and the part that connects to the throttle body. you have to use the MAF from your stock intake system and connect it to the injen and it should go right to place, you'll see a screw where the left side of the intake clips onto the engine, and dont listen to all these boys talk trash about the injen, i hear so much trash dis and that and i never noticed a decrease in power wen i had my injen, must people listen to one he say she say and they live there life by it, experiment on your own and make your own decesion

Dont no cold air intake really benefit you that much more over the stock intake, so go ahead and install it, the injen intake sounds great, dont expect anything at all really but the noise gain. No on hondas intakes do give a noticable gain, but as far as i know it on maximas cai's or even short rams dont give that much on a max

Can we stop calling this an Injen CAI? It's not a CAI so stop calling it one.

to Nismology's post. Send that thing back.

umm....injen does make a CAI...even though it might not be getting all the cold air, but its still the cold air intake. No, it will not give you really any gains, might even hurt you. But, like the other orger said, remove the airbox and the snorkel. The piping should point down where the snorkel was.

By definition it is NOT a CAI.

Sorry but I disregarded your post as soon as you said that it's a CAI. I could care less that Injen calls it a CAI. It's not a CAI. CAI go through the fender and collect COLD AIR. Not hot air off the radiator like Injen does. I have a short ram intake on my max right now because stock doesnt fit the 00vi for me. I guess I'll start calling that a CAI intake too since it gets some cool air when driving....

More than anything I just can't figure out what goes where. I mean I basically have a bunch of clamps, nuts and bolts, like 3 rubber fittings, and some other stuff and just can't figure out how it all connects to each other and installs. I'll hopefully have some pics up of whatever I got by later tonight. If anybody has a picture of and intake installed on their Max I'd greatly appreciate so I could somewhat get an idea of how it's all supposed to install. Thanks.

Here's a picture of everything I got with my supposed "Injen" intake but now I'm starting to have doubts as to whether it's even really authentic Injen material. If anybody could confirm my suspicions I'd appreciate it. Also, how is everything supposed to hook up? I'm just really confused as to what goes where. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's definitely not an authentic Injen.

But I'll try to draw you a diagram in paint of how it all goes together. Give me a minute.

Thats not the Ingen style. Thats the best intake around, modeled after the Place Racing CAI. You need to drill a hole in the fender if you want to make it a true CAI with the longer tube.

Here's my horrible paint diagram. The blue are the rubber connectors, and the yellow are where a hose clamp should go. Let me know if there's anything you don't understand.

And like the guy above me said, yours is the kind that requires cutting a hole in the fender.

Oh man, good news is that you don't have an Injen. Actually there is no bad news so be happy. Paint shop picture is perfectly fine for what you need to know. Just remember that the short metal piece is first, then the maf, then the long piece will go through the fender. Shouldn't be hard at all to install. Good luck with it.

Why does everyone needs pictures? Put the pipes on and look where the hole needs to go and cut the damn thing. It's not that hard. It ends up right behind the battery I believe.
