Downshift Error

My boy's 5spd has the ECU and the MEVI combo. He made a mistake and downshifted into 2nd from 3rd. RPMs went up to around 7,500. His engine is fine turns on and runs normal. When his car is off the gears in the tranny can shift into every gear, however once the car is on the gears are locked, i can press the clutch down but cant shift into any gear, and if i pull it to revearse it sounds like its grinding. There's a slight vibration in the clutch, can this be due to a bad slave cylinder or a bad throw out baring.

He was able to make it home in 5th gear but now cant shift into no gear when the car is on

weird.
you can look and see if the slave cylinder is moving fyi...
leave it in gear and start the car...what happens?
i bet somehting is out of align in his gearbox.
if it were my car i'd either open her up and look around or call up a place that does trannies and ask him.

good luck
