Changed Fuel Filter **Pics**
So I decided to to a major tune up of the Max because it was stuttering i would get below half a tank, So I followed all instructions from the FAQ about changing the fuel filter. Everything went smoothly and the car no longer has any problems , but the curiosity came to play when I decided to cut the filter in half to see what I would find. These are the Results:
Sorry for the crappy pics, they were taken with my cellphone.
Has this filter ever been changed, and if it has not what else should change?

honestly, theres no way to tell except asking the old owner. since it got so clogged it was studdering ide say it never was(or hasnt been in a long, long time). you should be good now though. shouldnt need anything else to be changed.

brake fluid flush
have u checked ur front and rear brakes ? the rear calipers MAY get seized on some maximas
If the brakes need replacement Do not touch the brake fluid until u change the pads, NEVER "top-up" break fluid
u have an auto or a manual ? never forget the tranny fluid
Edit: u r lucky u had no trouble with the filter, many people including myself have trouble removing the hoses that are stuck on it with deposits -- i still have my old one that i took out, i should cut it apart and check how bad it was
Did u put a 300z filter on or the OEM max filter ?

Also forgot to mention that I Changed all brakes all they way around with just regular stock rotors and Pads.
And I read here to use a 300z filter On it, and did that too.
Here's the Run Down
1995 5 Speed Se
Have Been Runnin 91+
After All This I'm getting About 25mpg Mixed
I have Replaced:
Spark Plugs
Fuel Filter
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Camshaft Position Sensor
Pcv Valve
air filter
Cleaned Throttle Body.
brake pads and rotors all they way around. (all the brake fluid was changed)
Tommorow IACV, coolant Flush, And I'll be Set?

Is it worth it to get the 300z just because it's bigger? Is it gonna filter more?
And what year 300z filter to get? I don't want to go to the dealer and sound retared getting a 300z filter for the maxima if they ask what year for the filter and I don't know...

Dont go to the dealership to get a fuel filter they will scam you badly. Go to Autozone or Advance Auto or some place and near the oil and filters there usually is a book that tells you part numbers thats on the boxes of filters. 1,2, 3 boom your done!!!

YES get the 1996 nissan 300z Twin turbo fuel filter FROM nissan, OEM filters are the best for our cars, when i got mine the Maxima fuel filter was $36 canadian while the 300z filter was $32 -- easy decision.
i dont mind paying a little extra for OEM quality, better in the long run
