N/A power
N/A power
I know in the stickies it says that a port and polish is a waste of time but if you want to make real N/A power aside from I/H/E/ECU and the transmission stuff...what else will give you serious power?
BTW...by port and polish I mean heads AND cams...probably valves, springs, retainers and injectors as well...OMG this could be serious money.
Always wanted a really powerful naturally aspirated Maxima...sound so much nicer than the pssst fart sound turbos make.

Spend some time in here, read all the stickys first.

Re-bore and bigger crank of what? The 3.0? AFAIK there are no stroker kits available for the 3.0 or even the 3.5 that are truly worth it price-wise or available to the average person. Oversized pistons would likely be extremely pricey, as well. Both things without the other would throw off the "square" of the motor.

You can pick up oversized pistons from VQ30DETT and VG30DETT (550cc) here for a very low price. They haven't been abused just discarded for 730cc's when guys have upped the boost or gone for a larger turbo. Yeah, it's a lot of money involved but it's a worthy goal IMO.
Best thing IMO would be shaved VQ35 head(make them shorter so you don't lose compression) Get VK45 pistons to raise compression a lil bit. Find some lighter rods or custom lighter rods. Get some cams, and a lighter vavletrain. Get some split fire coil packs(search for more info on um) and then tune it all with a emanage.
Cheers for this Kevlo.
VK45 pistons...shaved VQ35 head...Spiltfire coil packs (like the Mutangs have?)...GREDDY EManage.
Cams, springs etc I can do locally as well as the ECU and the 35 head but the pistons will be a bit ch.

Yeah. Need a good shop to shave the heads. If you don't want you I guess you could get away with a P&P of the 30 heads with a ported 00vi/mevi(your stock IM IIRC)

Extrude honing the VI should be nice. With a port matched 70mm throttle body.

Shaving the heads will cause the cam timing to change.
Also ther may be lower intake fitment issues.
There is no replacement for cubic displacement.

I know of one person that has done it and he didn't mention any filament problems.
Also, one more thing to add--VQ35 oil pump is a must. VQ30 pump cannot handle high revs
Personally after researching so much it would be alot more cost efficient and less time consuming to do the 3.5 swap. ANd if you got more money to drop into a 3.5 swap, get some cams and swap in the new IM from the new altima (composite and improved somewhat from the previous 3.5 aluminum IM)
With that setup alone...and some tuning with an emanage...and you will be very happy, CAMS on the 3.5 provide VERY nice gains, i wouldnt be suprized if you saw numbers as high as 280-300 to the wheels with some other bolt ons on that motor swap....Fill me in if im wrong, but this is just from my own research...

Problem is he not in the US so it is hard to get the motor IIRC. But I do agree if you can somehow get a VQ35, it would be better.

As far as NA for the vq30, i think your best bet to get more power is not sticking with NA if you cant get a 3.5
Nitrous, supercharger or turbo with a low shot (50-75) or low boost (9 pounds or less) would probably get you in the power range you would get puting all that time and money into an NA vq30 built motor. Thats just me tho, and to each his own...most people debate the reliability of Forced induction, but i would assume that you would pretty much run into similar problems (maybe not as often or bad) in a built NA vq...A low to moderate FI setup, well tuned, and maintained should be very reliable...If you do everything right...
Sorry if i went off topic as this IS an NA brainstorm lol...But just throwing out different ideas...
3.5 is hard to get hold of and very expensive...cheapest option is about $3,000NZ, which is the same as it would cost to port, polish my engine with bigger injectors and an upgraded fuel pump installed.

What sucks is even after all that a lightly modded vq35 still makes more power
That sucks big time, especially considering when I said $3k that was just to buy the damn block, it will cost another 800-1k to install it and then more on top to tune it. That's like four and half grand.
Not worth the outlay given my budget.
Might have to consider all this work and a back-up NX system when some gimp in a 6th gen or G35 (called V35 Skylines here) has a go.
