id suggest short ram, i just got a JWT pop-charger intake and it works beautifully, stillen also makes a good one and its about $30 less. i full short ram would include a midpipe to replace your stock resonator but the consensus on the org seems to be that the stock one is actually superior to any aftermarket midpipe.

look here about the midpipe: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=523047

Theres a bypass valve you can buy to help prevent hydrolocking on cold air intakes. I've had a CAI for a while now and I've never had a problem yet but go across a big enough puddle and you could be screwed. I'm always a little sketchy about driving threw puddles but I'm sure this would help
Click here for cold air intake bypass valve

If you are going on the short-ram route...stick with just a cone filter and stock midpipe. You will gain power in the higher rpms with a midpipe but loose some low end hp.

IMO, Stock midpipe with Stillen Hi-Flow FTMFW!!!

ok really need to do some research. I can't believe how many intake threads can actually be started on here. Ebay for intakes. There is no point to buy anything besides that. CAI will not be a problem like you think. Just do not slam into big puddles. The filter is low but if you don't hit those huge puddles you'll be fine. Can't link to that bypass thing so I don't know what it is. mge2790 has a good point. Posted info about dynos shows that stock midpipe is best. In this case you just really need a filter. If you're getting a CAI I'd use the stock box and the after piping from ebay with K&N.

Ebay has them for like 40 bucks shipped. Which isn't bad at all. Just make sure to get a good K&N Filter for it. Don't worry about hydro locking. I am not 100% sure but I believe the whole filter has to be submerged for it to hydrolock the engine. And seriously when is your car going to be under so much water if you see a puddle slow the hell down. You shouldn't be speeding in the rain anyways.

Yeah don't go short ram, cause all you are doing is sucking in hot air once again, i have a cold air intake with a bypass valve on in. and the filter is sitting right next to my splash guard and i have never had a problem.

It takes alot for an intake to suck up water. By pass only works if the filter is submerged in water and the difference in pressure causes the by pass to suck in air.

you won't suck up water unless you sit in a large puddle for a while

And you have to have your throttle pretty open.

To get water into your motor in a N/A setup, you need alot of things to line up at once
*enough water
*enough throttle
*perfect timing on the first two

I had a CAI for about 2 1/2 years and never worried about it.

what he said.
i had mine for over 2 years and drove through BIG puddles. don't go WOT or close to it if you think there is a chance of the filter being submerged AT ALL. even if it is slightly submerged if your light on the throttle you should be fine.

for what its worth my injen made the most noise of any intake i'v heard for a 4th gen. Very aggressive. however it also had the worst low end tq lost of all of the types i tried. for what it's worth i would go stock GAB unless i had headers and then would use the injen.

i would not be worried at all.

i drive through flooded streets with mine all the time....yesterday being most recent... when i first got i was skeptical about driving in the rain... when ever i drove through rain i would look at the filter and see water splashed up on it and is dripping off.. no problems..... drives better in the rain anyway
