highway engine trouble
I was driving on the New York thruway two days ago and after about 150 miles of 75 mile an hour cruising, I started to loose speed. When I tried to push down the accelerator I couldn't get my engine to pass 3000 RPM. That was in the middle of the night when that happen so naturally my heart started to beat really fast...could be that my coil packs are giving up when I still had 150 miles to go before reaching Boston and waiting for a busy schedule in the next day? I pulled over on the shoulder, shut down the engine, sit there for a sec, and restarted it up. Boom...it fired up just fine and I made to Boston 75 miles an hour no problem.
I never knew I could treat my car like a Windows PC.
What you guys all think? Should I look at just my coil packs? Could it be anything else?

For some reason your car entered the "safe mode" and retarded engine timing, not allowing you to rev past 3000 rpms. Do you have any codes? It could be your KS, especially if it has never been changed.

even with a blown KS u can still go past 3000 rpm and all the way up to redline. the KS has nothing to do with this.

I am not saying his KS is what caused the car to go into safe mode, I am saying that because of the bad KS, timing was retarded so much that the engine was not able to rev above 3000 rpms.
