Those with Tokico Illumina's...
Got a few questions for you. I've had KYB AGX's for about 6 years now. Been fine, but have recently weakened and I need them replaced.
With the Illuminas, are they:
- Good for everyday driving? I don't want too harsh of a ride. Will the softest setting be slightly better than stock?
- I see them around $430 on eBay. Is this the going rate?
- How in the world do you adjust the rears? My AGX's had a **** on the bottom to adjust. Is this only done thru the wheel well?
I appreciate the help. Thx.

I love mine, I set them on 2/3 because roads in the NE suck, as far as normal driving it's usually 3/4 or 4/4, the rears are like the front and have a slot that you turn to adjust the shocks. I got my struts on sale, performancepeddler.com I think

i love them too. they are great for daily driving. a lot of it has to do with your spring pairing as well. $430 is about right, too. shop around and you'll save a few pennies, but not much. the rears are adjusted through the trunk. you can cut a square in the trunk wall liners, or just pull them back to turn the dial.

they are $398 on www.performancepeddler.com if u put maxima in the coupon thing.. also they will take of an additional 10 bucks if u leave the link on the forum....

The front ones are adjustable in the engine bay and the rears are adjustable in the trunk (but you will have to pull he liner back a little bit, or cut a hole in the liner if you plan on adjusting a lot)
I leave mine on 5 (hardest) and I drive through DC and the entire metro area... My drop on Vogtland springs was only 1.5-1.7 so its moderate enough for good rebound on the tokicos. Plus the Vogtlands are stock spring rates.
I wish they were harder honestly... but i also beat my car.

Love the Illuminas. I run 3/4 around the crappy roads here, but I am thinking about adjusting to 4/5 with the new tires I have. As stated above, it all depends on your springs how it will ride. I have H&R's, which lay down a slightly stiffer than stock ride (~ 1" drop?). I don't think you will find many detractors here regarding Illumina's

I have Ground control on my car right now. I replaced my stock shocks with a new set of HP. WIth Ground Control and HP my ride is so soft and bouncy. Illumina would be better for Ground Control for a better stiffier ride or should i get something better than Illumina?

why don't you just get the AGX's replaced? i thought they had lifetime warranty. just be sure to tell KYB that you were using them as stock replacements or with eibachs/h&r's. they will not replace them if they were used with springs a more than 1.5" drop

i have em and i like em....montreal roads really suck and potholes, sewers that are too deep...that's what u have to live with and they're not bad, but when it comes to smooth roads...really nice ride...hwy is amazing...handling is awsome(with appropriate strut bars also)....you'll lke them cause i'm sure your roads are better then ours(we're known for them)

keep in mind that struts do not lower a car, that is achieved with performance lowering springs. comfort and ride quality will also depend greatly on the springs you settle on (no pun intended). consider reading the FAQ's, stickies and http://maxmods.dyndns.org/ for more insight

I have the tokico illumina suspension kit with the tokico springs. I love it. Performs great, My settings are at 5/4. I got them because I said if I was going to get a suspension upgrade I might as well do it right. So I got these. The everyday driving is wonderful and when its time to perform they handle the job everytime.
