Do you have an erratic tachometer?

How many of you have an erratic tachometer? Mine was broken, but I got a used one from the junkyard (had to buy the whole cluster for $75 – I pulled it myself for this price). The needle climbed while I drove and flopped around sometimes. I believe the IC chip on the tach circuit board is bad and probably a common problem. It is an overseas chip and you can't buy just one and they are expensive (AN8352UBK). We could buy a batch if there is enough interest. Minimum orders are ~$300 and I'm not sure how many chips we would get. To install a new chip, you would need to remove your cluster, remove your tach from the cluster, de-solder the chip and solder in a socket to accept the new chip. A bit techy, but doable. This should be cheaper than purchasing a whole cluster if several people are interested. Any one interested?
