talking smack while getting a wheel alignment

A long day finishing off even longer.

So i get out of work today and shoot over to firestone to get my alignment done, I just put on all 4 struts and springs to lower the car 1.5 inches. My bud works there as a mechanic and i go there cause he hooks me up and tells me the truth. I had to wait cause he had 2 other customers b4 he could do mine. He starts mine and about 1/2 thru this drunken guy come in wanting tires for his toyota truck. He has no clue what year or anything just that's it's an early 90's and a 4cyl 4x4. The guy at the counter just has no clue how to deal with him (this toyota pickup was in Trinidad). So i help him out. He mentions Firestone/bridgestone tires and without thinking i shoot those pieces of crap down. The employee leaves the counter, tells his manager and all of a sudden i have a 3degree camber problem that can't be fixed without camberplates and they're pulling my car off the alignment machine. No charge because the work couldn't be done, but i lost 2 hours of my time.
My bud is laughing hysterically at me because i didn't keep my mouth shut till the end of the alignment.

Well the steering wheel is straight at least and the car tracks semi straight, he did a quick touch up on it as best he could but they had to get it off of there too quick, sooooo tomorrow i go get my alignment somewhere else.

ok so you pretty much prevented them from selling tires and then they prevented themselves for making money of your alignment which 1/2 the time is just setting it up.

So in the end they just kinda screwed themselves over twice. This is becasue the sales men is unexperienced in selling to a person. And at firestone where they just feed you a bunch of junk left and right.

I would get pissed off too. Myself being a salesman it sucks when a customer contradicts your sales pitch. Tire salesmen work on commission so if you talk down about their products, the end result will be a lot of unnecessary negative camber.

It doesn't matter if some outsider talks down your products. You're a salesman and that's your job so you've got to be prepared for some crap like this.

exactly the point was the salesman didn't know what to do and wasn't helping the customer to begin with. He has no right to do anything its not like you took his commission away. He couldn't help the guy so he was out of luck and you just told the customer try elsewhere.

what it comes down to is the guy was'nt good at his job and i've seen that happen a dozen times if i've seen it once. that crap he pulled was out of spite, and non-professional behavior and not enough savvy to salvage a sale and make it work regardless of what you or anyone says. but when you work at sucki-stone you can't really expect much.

The "customer" i was trying to help wasn't going to buy anything at all, he just wanted to know what he would be spending on average for a set of tires for that truck. The truck was in another country (Trinidad), and the guy just didn't know how to answer him to get him the answer he wanted.

he has a 4th gen therefore his issues can be relevant to the forum----Either way saleman are supposed to be grown men and not do **** out of spite like little childern would do. IMO money is green nomatter who your are if the guy paid and is getting to be a problem kick his *** out the store and tell him to wait till his car his done. Have a nice day see you when i see you. The salesman was obviously immature and quite ignorant

It doesn't matter how experienced a salesman is. Don't come into a store and degrade their products. If you don't work there do you know everything there is about the products?

yea seriously bro.. if i was the salesman id kick ur ***.... dont stick ur nose where it doesnt belong...

anywho firestone as a company are lying, stealing bastards...
omg.. iv taken my max for an alignment with brand new tires.. and i get the car back it pulls to the right.. i go return it, next day i get it back it pulls to the left.. im like WTF is going on here... s

So finally they take it the third time and they tell me they cant fix it... and they blame the tires...

i get the tires checked out and they are ok, i take it my buddies shop he does it says there is no problems and the car drives great....

my other friend has a camaro and and astro van... does the same thing takes his cars in... the camaro leaves pulling to the left.. and the astro van they cant figure out why it pulls right....

SO moral of the story.. we both take our cars to Sears, and they do the alignment and cars drive straight as an arrow... firestone sucks
