--> What resistors did u use? cause my led's burned out in like a month
i think they were like 480ohm, those are what came with them when i bought the leds off ebay.
2. put in new k&n cone filter (pop charger intake)
--> let me know how the MPG changes i was thinking about that earlier
i doubt it changed mpg at all, if so i dont know
3. replaced water pump (my old one was leaking coolant)
--> i hear thats a major biatch
ya...it was
4. cleaned the throttle body and IACV
--> this is my fav, i took mine completely off the car, did u do it like that too? i hope u bought brand new gaskets from the dealer
ya i took it completely off too. no new gaskets tho, i know i should have
5. installed clear corners and removed front license plate
--> u sure its legal not to have plates in the front ? or did u put the license on the dash ?
no its not legal, lol. its ok tho. my license plate is now in my trunk
6. cleaned the egr system
--> i should have done this when the IACV and TB was off, but the lower bolts scared me, did u use that write up with the pics ?
no write up, just took it apart and cleaned it
7. replaced headlight bulbs with silverstars (ebay knock offs for real cheap)
--> i put in sylvannia ultras, which are a step (or just a price level) above the silverstars, hows the out put ? i sanded my headlights and its even better now, but they could be better in the snow.
output isnt that great, but all my driving is pretty much city so it doesnt matter with all the street lights
8. installed budget y pipe, replaced faulty o2 sensor while at it
--> power gain huh, i want one too, is it hard to install ?
not that hard to install. had to get bolts on the cat torched off tho at a shop
9. put on an injen exhaust tip (only cause my roommate got 2 for free and gave to me)
--> i got a stainless one but its ike 2" diameter and the whole .org is laughing at me for it :-(
ya i think before i had the car the muffler was replaced and it had no tip whatsoever
10. installed aftermarket tail lights
--> now these i dont agree with, not my style
11. installed grille inserts
--> looks pretty good, but not my style as well
12. cut down stock shifter and put on new ****
--> i wouldnt know anything about that since im auto

i had the silverstarts on for about a day and exchanged them for the ultras, i will never buy such expensive lamps again, the output is pretty much the same as the silverstars, but it is a little whiter...they suck in the rain or snow but they are good otherwise just not worth the price, gona go with xtravisions for next time since they are great in the snow and rain as well as dry conditions.
i duno about 2 months, but i had them on since i got the car pretty much and thats last november
oh and black_maxed95 : you really should have replaced both gaskets, its only a few dollars, piece of mind knowing u dont have vacuum leaks later on

Nice work man! It's a nice feeling to give your ride some well deserved TLC and a
good sense of accomplishment knowing you did it yourself..
If all the hating on your Altezza's gets ya down you could always do the Skyline Mod to em for pretty cheap..

How does 1/8th of a tank left work out to 36MPG? 15.2Gallons and 460 miles? 30MPG by my calcs unless I am missing something??
Oh yeah - there is a few guys getting 45MPG apparently on TMEC - so maybe (if the math was right) - 36 is believable!!??
I personally get 27MPG all highway at best
I would personally stick with the stock tails - tough to beat the clean look IMO.
How was Chicago? I have been thinking of roadtripping it too!

enough on the gas milage, since i havent refilled yet i dont know the actual mpg. it could be 30 but its probly atleast 32. i estimated by saying i used 13 gallons since whenever i fill up the needles is on E and 15 gallons is what usually goes in. but ANYWAYS...
about my tail lights that everyone hates...once again i think it looks good with the black housing on the black car. i do agree that chrome altezzas should never be bought, unless maybe you have a silver car, maybe. however i am thinking about doing a modified skyline mod to them, and paint the inside of the tail lights by taking the cover off instead of painting the top of the cover. that way it will blend in with the car a little better. (i need to take the lens off anyways and reseal it since water got in the housing)
chicago was pretty good. i really didnt know too much of what to do. and i only spent an evening and night there. (didnt sleep and drove home at 7am).
one thing that sucks is you want to get out and walk around and see stuff but parking costs a ******** per hour downtown.

come on andrei you're making us look bad lol jk
so what are you doing about the two bolt holes and outline for your licence plate? And I'd make sure its not illegal where you are, everyone I know who tried them in the windshields didnt last more than a month, they'll still pull you over and ticket you for it.
And the Altyz dont look too bad, I was thinking about gettin em but they look a little cheap IMO, if someone would make a high quality version of roughly the same design I'd consider em. Nice work man happy to see you got her fixed up ! Oh and 36MPG? sorry dude math is wrong I dont care if you were drafting not trying to be rude... its a 4th gen not a Geo.
EDIT posted b4 your above post^^^ lol

you're lucky man I want to rip mine off but cops around here are d1cks about that kind of stuff, swear they'll pull you over for anything, too many cops for the population in kitchener, I did pull the bracket off to see what'd look like, and mine is lookin pretty shabby excpecially compared to yours, so I guess Im stuck with it!! Sucks max looks soo much better without the front plate on there.

sorry this is off topic. When you had your stock exhaust where did you get the 2.5 tip?

If you'd like to take them up on the red/clears thing, I've got some genuine red/clears (non euro) for sale on eBay, they're going for really cheap so far...

I normally hate the altezza-type taillights, but these fit his black car very well. I like them. They are clean looking, fairly inconspicous, and add a modern touch to the back of the car (which looks quite dated with the original taillights).
I'm not a fan of the front grilles, but that's just personal preference. Clear corners are good.
As for the wheels, I'd say leave them unless you are willing to spend some money to drop your ride. Big alloys on stock suspension height = 4x4 monster truck. But yeah, a slight drop plus alloy rims would make this clean car look a bit sportier. But that's gonna cost some dough if you want nice-looking (non-ricey) rims.

Fisrt- The car looks good. I like the grill the best.
Second- I know Canada is metric. It must affect the math. 7/8ths of a tank = 15.75 gal. 460miles/15.75gal=29mpg. Very doable. You probably picked up 2 mpg or so drafting. Sometimes you really need to pay attention to Myth Buster's methods. Example- when they did the milage improvement tests they didn't actually drive the car, they put it on a dyno and set the throttle to a preset setting. When they tested the acetone additive they noted that the engine ran faster but under their conditions it didn't improve milage. I think that if they drove a set SPEED they may have seen a slight improvement.
