I was checking my oil today and it really smells like gasoline. What could be the problem? and also could this be causing a problem with why my gas mileage is so low? Please help !!!!!
Thanks in advance

Most definately. If you are running so right that the oil smells like gas, then you have some fairly serious issues. run the diagnostics and see if you get some error codes. I suspect o2 sensor(s) but it could be something else. ie.. car is always running open loop from a fauly coolant sensor, or any other cold mode running related sensor. It could also be a faulty ecu but I have never seen it yet.

If the oil is really thin, change it. The more diluted it gets, the less the oil can protect your engine!

Jeff92SE offered some ideas and I don't take issue with them. However, I think it is more likely that your engine has one or more fuel injectors which sticks open. When you turn off the engine the residual pressure in the fuel rail "pees" into the intake manifold, past an open intake valve, into a cylinder, past the rings, and into the sump. This hypothesis can be tested by making a fuel pressure test. This is a standard diagnostic test. You will find instructions and a diagram or picture in the Chilton repair manual (page 5-3) and the Haynes repair manual (page 4-3,4).

Bleed the fuel rail pressure by pulling the fuel pump fuse and making several attempts to start the engine (it won't start). Install a T-fitting with a pressure gauge in the flexible rubber fuel line just downstream of the fuel filter. Install the fuel pump fuse. Start the engine. You should see the pressure maintain a stable 34 psi. After turning the engine off the fuel system should hold pressure for a long time, 24 hours or longer. If the residual pressure bleeds off in only one or two hours that is a sign of a problem... bad fuel pump check valve, injectors with an internal leak, bad fuel pressure regulator, or an external fuel leak.
