Valve Cover!
looking for pics of different color valve covers. Looking for paint mine, not sure what color to do, especially because I don't want to paint the lettering!!!
How would you cover the lettering and paint the valve cover itself?
Any suggestions?

- I used tape to tape off the black part in the center of the "coil cover," then sprayed it red, then used a model brush and silver to touch up the letters, finishing with clearing the entire piece with nothing taped off for protection.
- The valve cover I sanded, cleaned with degreaser and brake cleaner, then sprayed black and cleared.

I did mine in a 4 step process
1. primed it then
2. painted the whole thing red (2 light coats)
used painters tape to cover the "red" strip and the "red" nissan letters
(with a razor and patience) then
3. painted whole thing black...
(for the small black letters I used a "paint" marker from a hobby shop) then
4. clear coated

the valve cover is powder coated
as well as the intake manifold and other parts...
(better than paint IMO)

JSutter, what's that in your picture above the valve cover?

I notice some guys have the actual valve cover and timing chain cover, and intake manifold chromed or painted. How much work is it to get to these parts? Anyone have tips on painting or chroming, does oil spill out when you take off a timing chain cover? Sorry, noob.

THe wire with the inline fuse is from the High Output 200amp alternator.

These are not chrome-dipped parts my friend. They are the result of tediously hand polishing the aluminum to a mirror-like finish. The one in the photo below is about 80% finished:
Also made a diamond plate spark plug cover:
