Valve Cover!

looking for pics of different color valve covers. Looking for paint mine, not sure what color to do, especially because I don't want to paint the lettering!!!

How would you cover the lettering and paint the valve cover itself?

Any suggestions?

are you talking about the coil pack cover? or the actual valve covers front and rear?

you could use very fine masking tape (the blue stuff). Its just about the same width of the letters

- I used tape to tape off the black part in the center of the "coil cover," then sprayed it red, then used a model brush and silver to touch up the letters, finishing with clearing the entire piece with nothing taped off for protection.

- The valve cover I sanded, cleaned with degreaser and brake cleaner, then sprayed black and cleared.

Thanks! Yes. I have black and red actually (red calipers, of course also). I am kinda going with a Nismo styling theme.

best way is to paint it whatever ur want all over without covering letters, then just sand off the paint.. Gives it a nice silverish look. beauty.

I did mine in a 4 step process
1. primed it then
2. painted the whole thing red (2 light coats)
used painters tape to cover the "red" strip and the "red" nissan letters
(with a razor and patience) then
3. painted whole thing black...
(for the small black letters I used a "paint" marker from a hobby shop) then
4. clear coated
[IMG][/IMG]

the valve cover is powder coated
as well as the intake manifold and other parts...
(better than paint IMO)

The easiest way to paint the coilpack cover with out painting the letters is. get a q-tip and dip it in vasaline and go over the letters.. then spray the whole cover after a couple of hrs... u can wipe off the vasaline..

Are you looking for painted spark plug covers? Or actual valve covers?

I notice some guys have the actual valve cover and timing chain cover, and intake manifold chromed or painted. How much work is it to get to these parts? Anyone have tips on painting or chroming, does oil spill out when you take off a timing chain cover? Sorry, noob.

Yea agreed prep work is the most important thing. I bought my primer and clear coat both high temp but not base color yet still deciding!!! Looks good though. I painted the valve cover on my neon that same color.

These are not chrome-dipped parts my friend. They are the result of tediously hand polishing the aluminum to a mirror-like finish. The one in the photo below is about 80% finished:

Also made a diamond plate spark plug cover:
