Approved Drilling Spots in Trunk?

I have a subwoofer in the trunk, and it's mounted to the carpet. Of course with my driving, the subwoofer goes all over the place and some wires get disconnected. So I basically want to drill some holes in the trunk floor, so I could screw in some screws to keep the carpet down. Are there any areas where I should definitely be careful about drilling? What are some ideal spots?

hey man id suggest getting some 1/2" plywood and cutting it out so that it fits perfectly in your trunk (you dont have to do the whole thing just enough so it fills the area and wont move around) then put it underneath the carpet and screw the sub box right into the plywood...it will do 2 things keep it in place and push up the floor of the trunk so the subs wont angle down as much...the downside is it adds a lil weight and it might take a lil effort to cut it..i did it and it works

Do you have some blueprints on how you cut it? Or did you just put your carpet on top of the plywood and cut? Also are you able to get to your spare easily?

Use industrial Velcro, two strips should do it, find it at home depot, works wonders...

I helped a friend with a similar situation, i went to home depot got some wood and cut it to fit between the front of the subwoofer box and the end of the trunk (as long as ur box fits left to right pretty close, the wood only has to be about 1 to 2 ft wide and whatever size for the distance between front of the box and end of the trunk). I glued some carpet to the wood to match the box and the trunk so it looked better.

I suggest doing that so when you have to get to your spare tire, its not a pain in the neck. Plus its really simple to do and works really well.

maybe this should be asked in the audio forum? people there deal with this stuff on a regular basis,

but,

I have had a single 12" in my old car (which had the same trunk layout of the spare), removed the spare, and put a 3/4" plywood piece and cut out a round shape for the sub. drilling it in, and placing it over the spare tire well.

Why not anchor down the subs (box) to a pillar in the backseat? it really shouldn't be floating around the trunk, plus if u have wires disconnecting and one day the positive terminal hits ground u could b in for alot of trouble----->good luk

The box will not fit in the rear of the trunk sitting sideways, and if I anchor the box to the back seat, then the ports won't have much room to breathe.
