water under carpet

last week i noticed that my carpet was wet (only driver side). today i had a chance to take a closer look on it. Remowed seat and took a look under carpet. There was a lot of water 1 inch deep. wtf?? and it happens only after rain. I was looking a hole in floor but did not find anything.

btw. when i drive during rain i hear some strange noises.
Any ideas what whats wrong, and how to locate source of that water?

Sounds like a section of weather stripping or one of your windows' trim is ripped or cracked and isn't creating a proper seal any longer.

Where is the drain pipe? Wouldn't the headliner be wet?

It would roll down the headliner, down the apiller to the carpet. Only time the headliner got wet was when i lowered it and put a waterhose on the roof.

Had to bring out a old thread because I still cant start my own.

But anyways It rain like crazy Saturday night in Boston I was over my Moms house and parked under a drain, I guess the drain flooded up and I got a puddle of water in the rear passenger side about 1" deep. I cleaned it out with a wet vac. It’s still damped but I'm pat drying it a few times a day. I just want to make sure the floor won't rust on me. Will I have to remove the carpet and get at it some more or just let it dry on its own?

I had a similar problem last winter. The rear passenger floor was always wet. But now, during summer, it's dry back there and the car sits outside all the time. What I think it was was some water froze in the drain pipe and any time some snow or whatever would melt and leak through the sunroof, it would just overflow and run down inside the car and collect there.

No sunroof is waterproof. They all leak but have drain hoses that run down the frame and exit in the wheel wells.

Dry it out and it should be ok. I wouldn't try removing the carpet or nothing. But you might want to do some checking to make sure your sunroof drain hoses are doing what they should.
