skyline head lights intallation ?

Can someone tell me how to take off the old head lights. I can probably figure it out but id rather know what im doing than just guess. Also how would one go about to rewire the high beams so that both the low and the high are on at the same time.

remove grille (probably need a flathead screwdriver to depress the tabs connecting it to the lights)

remove corner lights (remove little top screw and then pry/pull on the ends towards the rear of the car really hard)

remove two bolts at the rear of the headlight assembly and then the two bolts at the sides

remove headlights

you'll get used to it

Youve got some black bird crap on your front bumper.

Nice job, those and the yellow fogs are clean.

now this is where i need some clarification

HAs the bumper EVER been repainted ? replaced and repainted ? or is this the original nissan paint ?

i have had many arguments with people and i think nissan pain jobs are not the greatest...

BTW ur lower rad support looks like it need attention, looks a bit rusty in the center

UkiSash, can you take more pictures of your car from different angles and distances?
I was debating on whether to get black or chrome because no one else on the org has a sterling mist maxima. You're the first person to have r34 headlights on the same color car as mine.

Thank you
(sent you PM too)

To keep your lows on when the hi beams are on just put a diode from the hi beam wire going to the low beam wire. The band on the diode should be closer to the headlight coming from the stock socket. Hopefully you don't plan on driving with them on all the time cause that would probably be stupid.

How can you tell it was a black bird?

Can anyone draw up a simple diagram on how to do this? I'm not too good with wiring.

Sorry for necroposting!

I am at step 3 (remove two bolts...). I can remove the bolts at the sides, but the rear ones are behind a tube filled with wires that I cannot move. Am I looking at the wrong bolts?

just carefully move them out of the way with one hand, while you attach the socket using the other.

None of the sockets fit; 5/6 is too small, and 11/32 is too big.

What is the size for these nuts?

Edit: I think the passenger side bulb blew when the last owner had it and he replaced the bulb but did not remove the shards of bulb. I am not trying to remove the bulb (since the replacement he put in is working fine), I am just trying to clean the visible, reflective part of the assembly so it looks like the other side. I also want to remove those small shards.

Thanks.

Metric. 10mm I believe, if it's the one I am thinking about.

That explains why 11mm was CLOSE but not quite. Unfortunately, that is the smallest metric socket I have.

That aside, thank you. I know what to pick up and use now!

if you plan on doing work to your max I recommend getting a full metric socket set, and buy a few extra 10mm and 12mm

I just put HIDs in my car and at first the headlights were a pain in the as$ to try and get out, but once you pop the side light out...there are two screws in the back and two on the side that have to be taken out with a 10mm socket. The one on the bottom of the back is VERY tough to get at if you don't have the right connectors or a swivel head.

I don't think it would be a good idea to have both highs and lows come on at the same time. The heat inside of the headlight housing would be so hot, you'll be sure to burn out the bulbs, aside from melting any plastic.

IM a newb and work on my car alllll the time, let me give you some advise, buy like a million 10mm sockets in 1/4 and 3/8" drives deep and shallow because 9 times outta ten its a 10mm on our cars lol....and you WILL eventually loose a socket using the same one all the time if you look in anyones toolbox that ownes a japanese car lol its usually missing the 10mm

8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm

Those are the most common sockets needed to work on Japanese automobiles.
