cruise control problems
this is the deal. have a 95 maxima, the other day on highway i was trying to cruise the button turns on ... with no problems but when im trying to press on the buttons on the stearing wheel it doesnt work... i tried several times to make it work pressig on different area of the buttons, but nothing. that same night i realized that the lights of those same buttons did not turn on..
any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this.

When you say the button turns on, do you mean the button on the dashboard lights up when you press it? If yes, then try holding the brake pedal up with your foot when you press the set button in the steering wheel. Does cruise control engage? If it does, adjust the switch on the brake pedal.
try post above, if NOT the problem... replace the vacuum solenoid that mounts on the upper firewall (part # ??). It is mounted with two bolts reached from inner fenderwell with tires turned in- simple disconnect/re-connect one vacuum line and one electrical clip. If your car has over 125K it is a normal replacement item (about $30 online).

There are no lights on the steering wheel switches. Only on the dashboard one.
Second of all...try un-plugging and plugging in the cruise computer under the dash near your right knee cap. That worked on my 99. Otherwise...you'll have to test the relay, the vaccum pump...and a bunch of other stuff. This probably is no fun to fix. If you don't have a haynes manual...get one.
