GLE rims peeling - help!
Hi everyone. I'm new here, but I just ordered an OEM spoiler for my GLE ... does that mean I can hang out with you guys now? My question is this; my stock 14-hole GLE rims are peeling and look terrible. I love keping my Max clean - can you help my clean up these rims? Is there a way to get them new looking again? I'd really like a set of the 5-spoke SE rims, but cannot afford them right now. Thanks for having me & for any help!

BTW - fogs & white gauges are next on my wish list!

peeling
Not sure if this will work but I have tried it on there alloys. Take them to a machine shop that bakes and boils engine parts. Of course take your tires off but then get that to bake them. Works likea self cleaning oven or boil them that might work better. That should get all the nasty peeling stuff off then take them to a body shop and get them to clear coat them.
Re: peeling
hey thanks man! that sounds like a good idea ... i'll look into it and keep you all posted. btw, is it unsafe to "not" clear coat them again? just curious. thanks again

RE: Rims Peeling...
1. Maury, you can chill with us anytime. No mods required. Just a Maxima
.
2. The only way to stop the peeling is to refinish the wheel. Let me tell you from now that there are no cleaners that can help you. Refinishing the wheel will cost you about $100-$150 in total. If you pick up a Car and Driver or a Road and Track, you will see the places that do this in the back section. I am looking at a Road and Track right now, and this place called Wheels America offers the following: $109 each for a 24 hour wheel turnaround with a lifetime warranty and computer controlled accuracy. However, that price doesn't include shipping, but they do have depots all over the U.S. including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Antonio, Dallas, St. Louis, and Houston. Another idea is to search for used wheels on eBay. However, I honestly believe you will be best off with buying new 15" rims and keeping the old tires. Get a cheap imitation brand..probably run you $400-500. Just trying to help

peeling
If it is done right clear coating them again won't peel. I just did a 1991 Supra's white wheels and they look great I got the pic to take a look. But I just sanded them down and shot Sikkens clear on them and baked them..
