hey what's up everybody... i'm only 15 but i'll be gettin my maxima very soon... racin and supin has been in my family for a long time... i'm lookin at a 96-98 black 5 speed... but what i'm afraid of is the exhaust... that's the thing i'm so very afraid of... the reason is is that i will be very angry if i get the high pitch go cart sound that you hear with civics and other importies... i want it a deep moan... if you're heard it you know what i mean... fast and furious sound if that helps... i heard apex makes some.. but all i'm gettin is a muffler and maybe a downpipe but i'm just gonna start out with a muffler... and i'm sure borla makes a muffler but i'm afraid of that pricewise and soundwise... so if everyone could help me out with prices for mufflers and mostly the sound... i'd love it... also.. i'm thinkin about gettin a body kit.. and if you could help me out with brands, styles, and prices you will all rule.. money isn't much of a factor either.. cause i got 14,000 saved up for the maxima.. then about 4,000 for modifications.. please help me out!! thanks

I personaly like the sound of my Stillen Muffler. It has a deep pitch to it below 3K and after that it get's kind of quiet. A stillen muffler is about $350 new. If you want to learn more about maxima's either do a search or go to www.maximadriver.com .

If you need help finding a nice used maxima in your area check out www.autotrader.com . Good luck and you made the right choice .

The stillen muffler is a little too bbwwaaatttttt, sounding for me. if you want deep toned get a greddy cat-back, it's loud and deep.

Besides some rust issues that I solved with Rustoleum Sealer paint, the HKS system is the best in my opinion. A classy looking angled tip and a smooth almost unnoticable humble until 3k then the sound is totally gone after that. Almost completely stock sounding.. ALMOST ask Ryan93.. he rides in it all the time and never has my muffler sounded blahhhh.. or to ratty.. Sometimes I almost worry people will accuse me of just bolting on a tip the exhaust is so quite.

Check out Apexi WS. The greddy cat back is to ricey sounding. Ask brian V about the greddy he will give you an honest opinion of it. The WS sounds better and is over 100 dollars cheaper than the greddy.

Some guys get all the luck

Wish when I was 15 I had my 14 to spend on a maxi and another 4 on mods. Kid, what I recommend is getting some ideas here then going around to sites or other who ahve them and see what you like to see/hear and try telling from that. It is hard on here to tell without hearing it how you wwill like it once it is actually done.

Don't worry, the maxima has 6cyl so it's harder to get the whinny 4cyl sound. If you keep the stock muffler and replace everything else, it'll make it a little louder and deeper than stock.

Or you could go with one of the Catback systems, and I've never heard anyone say they sounded like the weedwacker civic sounds.

Newbie: Removes caps lock. It seems like your yelling, and it's harder to read.

Thanks

Re: Re: Exhaust answer

hey everyone.. thanks for all the info.. but i don't want the quiet sound. Like for example, my brother has a camaro with awesome decked out exhaust(flowmaster) and everything is awesome.. you can tell it's him when he pulls into the garage or drives by just from the sound(it's awesome). see that's what i want. i want the deep import tone though cause i've saved up for my car for the longest time.. so i think i'm gonna go with the Greddy cat back or the Apexi WS.. so thanks a lot... oh yeah.. do any of you know how much the WS system costs? or the Greddy cat back?

the apexi can be had for 350ish and the greddy for like 500 but the apexi ws is almost stock quiet, your not gonna like it. get the greddy for loud and deep.

If you get the greddy, make sure you shop around. Some places will charge you much more.

Try www.groupbuycenter.com
Or just do a search on the internet. The greddy system is plentiful, so you should be able to find a wide range of prices. But I'm guessing $500 is going to be the low end (if even that low)

Check out ebay there is a greddy for sale on there. Do a search for greddy and maxima, you'll find it.
