Hello. everyone. I was looking at the POP Charger intake manufactured by Jim Wolf. Does anyone have any experiences with this product? I own a 98 SE. I am not interested in any major mods. I want to keep it basically stock, but I have a K&N FIPK on my other car and I liked the results (miles per gallon increased by about 3), however mild they might be. Does this product void any factory warranties? Any other considerations I should take? Thanks.

Is your FIPK a cone filter or just a drop in for the stock air box?

I have the JWT and have no complaints. Gives the car a very aggressive note. Most of the time you can not even tell it is there. I get about 32 mpg on the highway.

The K&N is a cone, not the replacement drop in. it is on my 5spd 93 MX-6 LS. I also have a Borla cat-back on the mx-6. together they work very well. I have gtech'd the mx6 at 15.47@93mph. Haven't tested the maxima yet. but I am considering the JWT intake..how much do they run?

They run for around $110-$130 and they won't void your warranty. I have one on my '99 Maxima and it sounds amazing and looks very nice. It is exactly the same as the Stillen hi flow intake but costs much less. The stillen intake goes for around $160-$170.

try it from www.custommaxima.com
He has JWT POP for $110 I believe and oh yeah! you can't go wrong with custommaxima and the JWT pop charger.
Also consider buying the Y-pipe coz it will give you additioanl 17~25HP gain and sounds amazing, too!

First things first: you gotta get the popcharger. The only major difference b/t the Stillen and JWT is the price, the end cap says $tealin, and it comes with a brace instead of a metal arm connector. At WOT, the max becomes a friggin' beast!

I personally have heard that the Stillen is a really nice intake but the JWT is almost the exact same exept for the logo on the endcap of the K&N itself.

You save about $70 by going with the JWT and the performance will be about the same. I suggest getting your intake from www.custommaxima.com, greg has great service and gets awsome group deals on maxima parts.

You can't go wrong with the JWT Pop Charger.

Goodluck to ya.

I noticed you said you want to keep it basically stock. Noise will not be stock. It gets MUCH louder at WOT. Regular driving you don't notice a difference.

Can anyone run down the difference in mileage between the stock filter and the POP charger? Difference both at normal, daily driving (max 3k, 3.5k rpms), and up in the range at WOT?

Air filter

ProjectImport.com also has filters they are not the JWT or Stillen but same idea. The main thing too is that it is about 1/2 the price of the pop charger and it is the same based setup and idea.

hey thanks for the replies. yeah i want to keep it pretty much stock. I think I'll stay away from modifying the exhaust because keeping the sound level down is somewhat important to me. i realize the sound level will increase with a new intake, but will go unnoticed during normal driving. correct? is it a good idea to go with the intake even though I won't be freeing up the other end with a new exhaust? any long-term reliability effects with using this intake?
