A buddy just got a WRX wagon three weeks ago and I saw it for the first time yesterday. He ordered it with a modified exhaust from Subaru, which is pretty cool. Since reading about how fast these were, I had to see for myself. So we both got to a light for a run. When the light turned green, that thing just takes off. In first he had me by 1.5 car lengths and spinning his front tires at the same time?! By the time I hit third, he had 3 car lengths. So we turned around back to his place. From his car I did notice a very strong smell of a burning clutch. I asked him how he launches and he said, 6000rpm and slips the clutch. He knows it is bad for it but he doesn't care.

From a looks stand point, I think Subaru could have been a little more creative in its shape. It looks a little tacked on. The interior is cramped and the plastics really look plastic. Pretty disappointing to me. As for performance, two thumbs up.

I was sapose to get a black wagon last week but my parents backed out cuz they just bought a new 4-runner the week before... I went from having a 25k fund to build a s-13/sr20det/s-15 high 12 second race car to the wrx wagon to keeping my dads maxima all in the same week. ( went out of the country all summer to get my s-13 and it never happened waste of a summer)

Yeah, I knew he was gonna kill me but that was pretty impressive in person. He just ordered a turbo timer with boost controller from HKS. It's a shame not more cars here in the states are turbocharged. The options of modifying are almost limitless.

i love the turbo wrx wagon or not... the momo stering wheel is really cool that car seams like it would be so much fun to drive... your friend reminds me of a buddy i have that owns a imprezza 2.5rs he is going on his third trans and has already seized a motor due to his air fuel controller being way off... alot of abuse for a car thats a little over a year old.. anyway it just so happened that a subau salesman lost his keys at a night club i bounce at on fridays... i told him because i helped him find them that i was coming by to take the wrx for a test run... but i am afraid i'll end up buying one if i go there...any updates on the addco deal i was one of the first to reply, thanks louis

Not really. I'm just waiting on the finacial paper work to set up an account from Addco. It should come in tomorrow or friday. If everyone is still game, hopefully I can get the best possible price. I'll let you all know by replying to the original thread.

This guy I work with just got a WRX sedan. He wanted to get the wagon but didn't based solely on the fact they don't come with the flared fenders. It's a pretty sweet car. Subaru always seems to make good use of the [little] space they have. The steering wheel is the best, but the position of the tach and speedo should be reversed. We raced yesterday and I lost. He got me off the line (I had a pretty shiitty launch) and that's basically how it stayed. The gearing is much closer than the Maxima's, which is to the advantage of the Scoobie. I ended up at his rear bumper before I let off (~90mph). I need to replace my O2 sensors, then race him again, it will probably be closer (with a better launch). However once he gets a boost controller say bye-bye. They are nice cars, very fast for the money, and have a lot of potential.

Huh..

Actually this car for a wagon then seems pretty deveiving. More power than I thought it would have had. Dont they know wagons are supposed to have fake wood paneling running down the sides?

I race my friends A6 all the time and he kills me pretty much most of the time... But for some reason I get himm off the start... I started to power brake, put the car in neutral rev the car and drop it in gear, etc. etc... the best thing that seems to work is simply pressing the gas...
