help -> standard stereo system details
hello,
I'm curious about the standard stereo used in the 4th gen Max... how much power does it put out?
and since it's not bose, what brand name is standard for the system?
also if i found a wrecked maxima with the bose system...
you guys think it would be pretty easy to remove the old system and install the bose system instead?
thanx,
Frank

I believe the head unit was made by Clarion
and the unit w/o the CD player (single DIN) was rated at 60 Watts and the Double-DIN with the CD was advertised at 120 Watts. I/m not an audiophile, but I think you need to divide the ratings by 4 (# of channels) to correctly compare them with other units. They are not in Watts per channel, and most of industry rates them in Watts per channel.
The switch-over to a BOSE unit would be very expensive and complicated. Most audiophiles advise against it, and recommend buying non-Bose for more sound per $ spent. Also, the Bose are not thought to be the most reliable.

I suggest the non-Bose CD/tape combo
I also wanted to buy a Bose for my GXE but instead I purchased the 1997 CD/tape combo which looks exactly like the Bose but isn't. I bought it for $80 and it was a direct plug in plus it comes with cd changer controls and you won't have to worry about it getting stolen.
Ps. I added two subs to it with a Rockford Fosgate Amp.

If you have the single DIN tape, Nissan makes an indash 6disc player.
