i have a friend nagging me on to race him in his 96 millenia (auto) VS my 97 maxima SE (stick). Both bone stock. Anyone know what they are like performace wise? I looked but the millenia fans don't have a nice place like here to hang out and give stats so i turn to you guys.

Also, is there an ECU upgrade for the maxima? I never hear it mentioned as a modification when someone asks what they should do next.

You have a MUCH faster car. The Millenia S is a little slower than the auto Maxima, and the 5 speed is much faster than that. The Millenia S has a SC, while the Millenia doesn't.

There is currently no aftermarket proven ECU for the '97, though I believe heston has something in the works.

Haha is your friend on crack? A friend of mine has a 96 Millenia and we have raced, just for fun, because he knows he's going to get his *** beat. It's not even a contest. on the highway I can accelerate past him while he's flooring it and I'm only at about 3/4 throttle. 0-60 times are in the low 8s for the Millenia S, and high 8s low 9s for the Millenia L and Base.

Gawd, have you ever driven a Millenia? My stepmom had one as a rental car and she let me drive it. What a bore. It was a '01 and I have a '97 Max. My car has so much more room inside, handle better, cornered better. These car's really aren't even in the same class!

Kill 'em!!

Don't worry and set up a race for pink slips. I have raced many Millenia's, some with factory Schargers. Both of them aren't s**t. I have had many Si's come closer than those Mazdas. I'll bet my car+bank account+girlfriend on a race against ANY SLOWmania. Haha! Go represent our under-respected cars!

You should tell you friend that it should be a close race and that you want to put some money on it. Then when you really kick his @$$ he will owe you some money for his cockyness.

I will try it, but if it is too hard to read I will put it back. What is your resolution set to? I have mine at 1600X1200 and it doesnt take up the whole screen.

Why does it matter how big it is anyway? I use to be on a 28.8 modem and the only thing that it had trouble loading was the pics. Its not like my sig is slowing down the .org. If you dont like how big it is just scroll past it.

MedicSonic, You never answered my email. I am just wondering, do you have the "Maxima.org" stickers on both backsides of your car ? Or only 1 sticker ?

As far as comparing the max to a mellinia, that's just embarrassing. Embarrassing for an Auto, and especially you being a 5spd. I'm dissapointed in your lack of faith.

Your welcome, but I still do not know why it is annoying. Please let me know why it bothers you. And do you know how I can make the pic smaller too? I want to add another one next to it and dont know how to do that either. Thanks.

Its not that it is annoying, but EVERYONE has mods, it isn't a race or a parade to show them off with words. Just use a pic or two. As for the pic, use PSP7 from Jasc, Inc., available at www.jasc.com

Remember SprintMax's sig last week with all the OEM mods? That's how your sig looks. BTW, if you have multiple posts in a thread, you can turn off your sig in the reply screen.

millenias

i was looking into millennias a while back... the reason max's will smokem pretty easily is cause they are made to accelerate slowly... like when you gas it, it tries to even everythin out to give you the most comfortable acceleration...

forgot where i heard that... ehh..

Millenia...

I raced a Millenia S in my old 3rd gen, I kept nose to nose with him and then he started to gain just a bit at 60+.
Millenias are heavy. However, I gotta say they look damn good in my opinion. I just saw a NEW Millenia, probably like 2002 or something, it looks smooth.

you're right, these cars aren't in the same class. the millenia s consistently does better overall than the I30 in any magazine comparo tests that you care to look up. and this was for 2000 models.
