Does anybody have any comments on SYLVANIA bulbs? Did anyone ever have any bad experiences with them. And which would look better Cool Blues or Hyper Whites? Thanks in advance!!!

great improvement in visibility. A lot more WHITE, not blue. I think this color is easiest to match w/ other bulbs. (Fogs, sidemarkers, clearance)

I have the cool blues. No problems with them. They are little whiter and a little brighter than stock, just what I wanted.

Go for it.

Sylvania Bulbs

Everyone seems to talking about Cool Blues... I have the Silver Stars wich run about $50 for a pair of 9004s at Autozone. They are way brighter and way whiter and have just a hint of blue/purple. I've been running them for 6 mos. with no probs....

Thumbs up on the SilverStars, much longer life than the Narva's I got from Coutesy Nissan. And IIRC, Sylvania has a $10. rebate/pair going on right now.

True, and if you buy before Nov. 2, they are $3 off per bulb. W/ the rebate, that makes them $34 for the pair..still not as cheap as the aforementioned B1g1 1/2 off special mentioned above for the CBs, but a better bulb. It just depends on what you want to spend on lighting. W/ winter coming, I dropped the extra cash b/c I will be driving more in the dark.

Where can you get the rebate, the Autozone near me has no idea about any rebate. I've seen many people getting them so I know it exists. Are the rebates attached to the bulbs, or can you download them? Where did you guys get the rebate forms from?

I found them in the back when I went to recycle my oil. THe rebates are good through at least the end of next month. Try the sylvania website, or call other auto parts stores. I got mine at advance auto.

Hmm. Advance at least knows about the rebate, but they quoted me 47 something for two, which would be 37 bucks after the rebate. Not too bad I guess. Would you say they are worth 37 bucks phenryiv1?

$47? It was $25 each w/ $3 off, so I guess $47 w/ tax is about right. They have packs of 2 that are $47.99, or the individual ones (which I bought) for $24.99 each w/ $3 off each bulb= $21.99 per bulb.

Are they worth $37? FOr me, with driving an hour each night in the dark on the commute, some of it on back roads? Yes, they are. At $47? MAYBE. But@ $37, I would do them again...assuming that they last.

If you cannot get them for $37 (or $34), them the cool-blues or BlueVisions are a good deal @ about $25 per pair. That is what I was going to do before I saw the sale and rebate.

Well I just picked up a pair of Sliverstars. While waiting at the counter for service I looked in the ad and sure s***, there they are for 3 dollars off. You were right, when I called it was the package of two price, but the dude gave me the same price of 44 because they were out of the singles for the 9004. The rebates good for the set also so I got both for 34 bucks. Thanks for the heads up!

I've been running Cool Blues for over 3 years now and I've only had to replace one bulb in that time. Yes, they are very reliable and the gain in light intensity is very nice. I plan on getting the Silver Stars this weekend. I could care less about the "HID" look, I care more about what I can see.

Exactly why I got them. I wanted something was just nice and bright that was usable. For me the other more blue options do not light up the road and are just for looks. I would reccomend the SilverStars.

I agree with the 2 threads above...I bought them for light, not looks, which is why for 90% of driving, Bluevisions/coolblues would have been enough, it was just that for $10 more I could get the silverstars...I think if it as a minor investment. Of course, if they blow or die I will be ****ed to have to replace them (@ $25 each as opposed to $13), but it is just like rims and tires...you get better performance, but you also have to pay for it. 17"s are nice, but when you look at the incrimental cost to step up to 17"s versus 16"s, when you factor in tires and all, it gets really expensive quick.

Some times I wish I had stuck w/ 15"s...

While I have all the Silverstar owners attention, has anyone tried the APC bulbs yet(1175) to compare color. So far it sounds like the Piaa is the best bet otherwise.

You got it right, PIAA is your best bet. Lots of people have tried other bulbs and wound up unhappy because they did not really match all that great.

Re: Re: Sylvania Bulbs

I've had my silverstars for a week now, and they are much brighter than stock. i just switched the bulbs from crystal hyper whites to these, and they are much whiter, no blue to them.

Silverstars vs. ExtraVisions?

I read in another thread where someone said that from the driver's seat, the Sylvania ExtraVisions actually lit the road better than the Sylvania Silverstars.

(This seems to be just one such opinion, so far).

Anyone have any feedback on this?

I like what I'm hearing about the Silverstars and the numbers of people happy with these bulbs is a (+) indication to me

-the Extravision comparison is the 1 thing I want to sort out before buying.

TIA

The 9004 SilverStars are 50/70w, so 5w over stock for both L & H beam.

As you probably know, Nokyas are blueish and you probably can't see crap with them in the rain.

As I understand it, Silverstars are just pure white and should give you much better visibility.

i've gone through them all man. eurolites, naxos, nokyas, apc, THEY ALL SUCK! if you want that stupid ricey blue look then go for the nokya, naxos, etc. i got rid of them because i got tired of the crappy visibility. now i have the silverstars. i put in one silverstar and one nokya and the silverstar outshined the nokya by 15-20 feet. not to mention they are extremely white and look great. get them, you'll be suprised how much better you can see at night.

I think that autozone has buy 1 get 1 1/2 off for silverstars right now, PLUS there is still the $10 rebate on them. That is even better than the $37 that I paid...

i think it all depends on where you live to what the prices are and what incentives there are. i saw ppl paid $25 a bulb for the silverstars, something about 3 dollars off a each bulb, by one get one half off, as well as the $10 rebates that some autozones didnt know about. i work at autozone where i live and we have the for 20 apeice and have stacks of the 10 rebates, so it really depends on where your shopping.

I was the guy who posted about the $3 off a few weeks ago, now i went in and saw them for B1G1 1/2Off, but you are prob correct about the regional sales.
