My last dyno run was back in December. All of my mods are listed below and at that time I had an aftermarket muffler and no UDP. There was approx. 52K miles on the car at the time.

My most recent dyno run w/the UDP, I went back to the "stock" muffler and I also just had my plugs and fuel filter changed.

The files are attached...

December hp = 171
August hp = 178.2

December tq = 182.7
August tq = 192.1

I'm sure some of these gain are attributed to the new plugs since my old ones were pretty worn. I'm changing them at 30k intervals from now on.

Wow, good numbers. That's a lot more than the "1hp" that many people claim that you get from the UDP. Even if half of that is from the plugs.

Can't wait to get mine installed!

For some reason I can't attach the file. I gave it an .bmp extension and it still won't attach.

Give me your email address and I'll mail it to you if you're interested.

You forget that Sprint is the Maxima guru. He knows all. SCC's dyno of their SR20, Focus ZX3, etc showing gains of 2-4fwhp and tq with a UDP is all false. Same goes for the UDP tested in MM&FF showing 8-12 rwhp and tq. Too bad Sprint doesn't understand that the pulley will show a few hp gain along with better acceleration in 1st and 2nd due less rotational mass. I guess lightened flywheels don't work either

Where do you see valid evidence that the UDP increased the Max's power? maxfreak's horsepower only went up by 7, and who's to say how much of that can be attributed to the new plugs, fuel filter, and muffler change? You can estimate, but that gets us right back to unsubstantiated claims that start these kinds of arguments.

It stands to reason that a UDP would help power, but it might be down in the negligible range. For instance, when SCC tested a UDP in the 200SX (1.6L version), it produced a gain of exactly 1 hp. Given that UDP's cost upwards of $200 for the part alone, that doesn't sound like a worthwhile upgrade. If anyone has a before and after dyno of just the UDP swap, I'd be very interested in seeing the results, though.

Even things like temperature and humidity can change the dyno. So with such a long time span and other misc changes, we can't really tell how accurate the dynos are.

If there was a same day swap, then it would be realistic info, but otherwise we're still guessing.

Hmmm...

I'm wondering, who is testing the UDP and what type of transmission do they have? I'm under the assumption that tranny type will have an effect on the power increase.

I can see where you guys are coming from, but he went back to the stock muffler. Everyone around here swears an aftermarket muffler is worth 3hp on the VQ. He went back to stock It's funny, I did the same and my et didn't change one bit. I'm not saying the pulley is responsible for all his gains.
