well it's finally done...got to put in my place racing today..install was very informative however soem parts were a little vague...i would recommend this mod to anyone...the sound is pretty nice...deep growl at WOT...and you constantly hear a nice whistling noise when you are on the gas...took about 2.5 hours since im not that mechanically inclined...if anyone has any questions about the install ill try and answer...

as for performance...notice a slight increase in performance but not what i had expected...the sound is what i love the most...

Yea, I noticed no performance increase with my pop charger, just a nice deep girgle.

I dunno guys, I swapped my stock airbox and let my buddy use my intake. I got y-pipe, catback, and he beat me w/just intake. I notice a strong pull on the hi-end in his car, and in mine it pulls harder on the low end from the stock airbox.

hey NMexMax

what year is your freinds car and is his a 5 speed...that could be a difference...a five speed with intake would prolly beat an auto with y pipe and cat back..just my 2 cents...

He's got a 96 SE Automagik, and I got a 95 Automagik. Although I have 17's, and he's got stock 15's. We raced b4 we swapped the intakes and I anihalated him. Then we swapped them out and we were even through 1st, then he pulled after that.

Yeah I'm with you on this one. I just installed my CAI on Monday this week. The growl is nice, but didn't notice that much of a power increase if any, but then we are only talking about 10hp (I think). It does kick butt on the hwy in 5th. My install took a little longer as I cleaned out the Throttle Body. Onto the next mod

Ok, I know the purpose and intent of the CAI. But before I cut a hole in my fender... I thought the CAI is suppost to deliver fresh cool air to the intake manifold. Doesn't the CAI put the filter just behing the bumper fascia? I wouldn't guess that there was that much fresh air flow back in that corner? Does it come with some sort of flange to force in coming air into that area?
I saw a 4th Gen Maxima in Maryland that has an air drop cut into his hood, with some mesh and air router(I guess thats what you would call it). Straight into his standard cone filter. I would call that a cold air induction, or is that just forced air induction.

thinking the same...

i was thinking the same thing after i installed mine...not really that much fresh air getting into that compartment above the fender...i think im going to cut a whole in the plastic so that more air can circulate down there...

I've seen a picture that people actually take hosing and extend that down to the bottom of there front spoiler and get some wind force through it.

what I want to know is, can you take the factory inlet off the car. it looks like there are some monitors hooker up to it. I would like to clean out my engine compartment a little.
