Rear Sway Bar questions

I was looking at CustomMaxima for the prices on say bars and a few other thigns and had this question. The add reads :

Easy to install, adjustable, comes standard with ADDCO's "optional" urethane bushings.

I have heard other talk about the urethane bushings but what do they actually do and is it easy to switch them when your doing the swaybar anyhow?

Available in two finishes: gold zinc-chromate plating, and black powdercoated.

What is the difference? I live in New England so snow is major around here, dont know if one is supposed to last longer or what. If it is just color difference probably get Black to match the Max anyhow. But wanted to make sure.

Thanks
SuDZ

Color is just color ... no difference.

And the bushings... they come with urethane bushings and you don't need to switch anything. Installing the RSB is simple.

Speaking of installation. I just got my RSB yesterday and tried putting it on.. The square U-bolt doesn't fit over the trailing arm.. Am I doing something wrong?

The kit comes with 2 set of u bolts. They are different sizes. On set goes on the training arms and the other goes on the axel beam. You are putting the wrong U bolts on. Switch them around and it all fits perfect. Installations should take about 30 minutes.

Are you saying that i should use the round ones instead of the square ones on the trailing arm? If you are saying to try the other square one, I tried that...

Thanks,

NO, NO! Actually the PLATES are just as different as the brackets. Obviously, the curved U-bolt hooks up to the axle. But for the two sets of plates, one can fit BOTH whereas the other can only fit the trailing arm bracket. It's basically the spacing in between the holes of the plates that makes the difference...I think height and width dimensions are the same.

You're a better man than me. I bent them a little, but wanted to be careful not to mess up the threads. You can bend them out but they have to be able to match up with the holes on the plates. The bolts should be a little wider and match up with holes a little wider on the plates. They bend to form when you snug the nuts anyway. This was pretty much a PIA to install. I couldn't believe how much "persuasion" it took to get the bolts around the axle/trailing arms, though it is a sweet set up now!

Re: Rear Sway Bar questions

You don't "switch" urethane bushing because 4th Generation doesn't come with rear sway bar. Probably you are mistaken with the switching of the FRONT sway bar D bushings.

If I were you, I'd get the black powder coated one. Once installed the bar will hang low and you really don't want a shinny sway bar which attracts other drivers (and police) to the bottom of your car.

It doesn't stay shiny for long. And why would other drivers care that you have a bar underneath your car. It's a bar.

Why would the police care also? What could they have to complain about? Would they say that because I improved the handling on my car making it more stable and less of a danger around sharp turns somehow be illegal? Man hopefully they wont pop the hood to look at the front strut bar. Just kidding but a little confused on the whole police thing.

It's just me.
I don't want to attract attention.

Just put in an underbody neon kit. That'll distract people's attention away from the RSB.
