1. That whine.... does it go away after starting or always present at idle?
2. How much installed (approx.)
3. What are the min. mods that should be done in addition to keep the car from self-destructing? (installedprices too)
4. With an SC... will the car still last over 100k miles?

1. Always present at idle.
2. V2 kit is around $3-4k now and install for $1000+ depending on who does it.
3. Nothing else is required. BUT, for best results, you'll want a full aftermarket exhaust to maximize power, improved suspension to keep you planted when zipping around at top speed, and upgraded brakes to get you out of trouble as fast as you got into it. ALSO, if you have an auto tranny and plan to race/drive hard often, go for Don Cooper's VB upgrade and perhaps some Level10 work. 5spd is fine as is just don't pop the clutch.
4. Yes. BUT this is HIGHLY dependent on how you drive.
