Daniel B, I figured out what went wrong with my tranny
So my mechanic checked out my car today, and drained the tranny fluid, and just like he had suspected, it was all silver. He mentioned that it was weird that third gear would go out. He said usually you see first gear go. That go me thinking about the detent spring. What I've deduced is that the nissan tech that worked on my car last year didn't "forget" to install the spring persay. He probably put the spring in FIRST and the ball SECOND. And somehow the spring got pulled into the tranny by the shift rod..and that's where it all started. My car was without a detent spring in the 3-4 detent for 6 months and travelled aprox. 20K miles. Does this make sense as to why my tranny would go like it did??? Or am I just nuts?
