Help: Brake warning light

Okay. my ride has only 31k miles on it. Yesterday my brake lights went on so I checked the resevior and noticed that it was close to the min level. I filled it back to the max level and it went off. So.. my question is: Do I need new brakes (never had them changed)? Brake fluid just doesn't evaporate! Any help would be appreciated!

You are quite right. Brake fluid just doesn't evaporate! It is not consumed in normal operation.

That "missing" brake fluid went ...
1) onto the road surface because there is a leak in your brake hydraulic system.
2) into the calipers as the pistons moved progressively outward.

Most likely it is case #2 and your brake pads are worn. Please inspect all four wheels. The front pads typically wear out before the rear pads, but there have been cases where the rear pads wore quickly. Early wear-out of rear pads might be caused by a handbrake mechanism which sticks.
