Car Issues! Part 1 - Belts

Ok, I'm having some issues with my car lately. Weather's been getting cold again, and since last year, my belts have been making noises only when its around 40 degrees. Today, they were squeaking (sounded more like a pulley though) when the car was warming up in the morn. How hard is it to change the belts by myself, and if that is quite difficult, what is the estimated cost at the dealer (can it take one hour of labor?). If i do it myself, what tools would I need, and how much would they cost to purchase (just a quick guess is all i need). I know the belts at courtesy nissan are around 12 for each one, not bad. My car only has about 33K miles on it, but went through four Buffalo winters (three of them were in the garage). Is this a premature time for the belts to be making noises and squeaks? Thanks!

At 33k, your vehicle should still be under the bumper to bumper warranty, and the dealer can replace or adjust the belt for free.

I had asked them to do so, yet they had come up with an excuse. I have not exceeded my mileage requirement, but my time limit had just letup in mid-June. Maybe I should force them to do so since the complaint is still in the computer, but they think they solved it?

With only 33k on your car, and the warranty only four months expired, you should ask to speak to the Nissan regional rep. Use the 800 number in your owners manual. Usually in cases like these, Nissan will honor the warranty. If not, perhaps you ask them to "split" the costs with you. 33k is very low for the belts to be wearing out.

I'd say it prob just needs to be tightened. I had the same noise about 3 months after I replaced my belts...took it to a shop, and they had in fixed in 15 minutes for free.
