STS too long
STS too long
My car has a Stillen short throw and its still pretty long. I was wondering if I could chop it down with a cutting tool, and then use something to re-thread it.
Would this do any harm? I can't imagine it would, as I would only cut about an inch or so off, let me know.

No, not at all, people actually cut the stock shifter down and rethread it, there is a thread floating around with pics and instructions, I THINK it was Jsutter, could be wrong, I'll try to dig it up
Actually you could if you tried, There used to be a thread with an individual cutting his shifter in his car. He poked a hole in plastic bag and slipped it over the shifter to catch the metal shavings, dremel could also grind down the diameter. Much easier to just remove the shifter, but we already know your experience with that.
My stock shift **** was GLUED on, so I cut it off to do my STS and I had to do it in the car. So ... it can be done, tis a beeach but it is possible.
Hacksaw or Sawsall FTMFW!!!!! Then thread it to the same pitch as your ****.
Well on mine, i cut my stock shifter, but i also have a momo shift **** which does not use the threaded portion. It simple has 3 little screws on each side to secure it in place. Works very well too! Still want a STS though.
