$500 FOR A STARTER YOU ARE GETTING RAPED!!!! That's a 20 minute job! I just put an engine & trans in for $650, granted it was for a freind but STILL, that's scary, find a good independandt mechanic and stop going to the stealership.

i duno about you guys, but here in toronto a dealer wanted 399 + tax for a starter,
mine died so i am getting a new one tomorrow and putting it in myself, should not be too hard if the bolts are not seized
water pump is a major biatch tho and the write up scares me
BTw for 500 you can get a starter, and three other hookers to suck you off at the same time, damn...

To hell with an air ratchet. It's still a 30min job with regular tools. If you pay me $500 for your starter replacement, I can fly to wherever your at, change it, fly home and still make money on the deal.

i was a complete noob back in the day when i did my water pump. cost me a total of 80 bucks for an oem pump and 6 hours of my time. (yes i know 6 hours, now i could do it in about 90min now that i know what im doing)
so yes, even if you are a noob at engines, just follow the write up and do it yourself. thats what i did and it worked perfect.
