Slight Shaking/rumbling randomly at idle
At a stop sign, red light, or just whatever, whenever im in D, i feel a slight shake/rumble that goes on and off ONLY in idle. Its getting me worried and i just dont know what it could be. The RPMs dont move or nething its just that i can feel it throughout the car. It does it some days and not other days. Kinda weird aint it ?

wrong if thats dirty the worst thing that happens is it idles LOW and as it hits around 500 rpm it bounces back to about 1500 or less and slowly lowers

1000 is still high auto should be 700 +/- 50 this is spec
i cant think right now cause i just got off my new job and i am tired as hell, but the idle is the key, investigate what is causing it to be high - OR bad motor mounts maybe?!! duno

I just threw them both out there because i cleaned them and tightened the screw at the same time.

Mine idles anywhere from 750 to 1100.(Only gets to 1100 when automatic choke was engaged prior.) My car usually idles at 900 when it is warmed up. My friends at Pensacola Honda couldn't find anything wrong with it. One suggested that it just might have always done that although he said that Maximas normally idle at 750. Maybe I have a factory freak? lol.

Probably a misfiring ignition coil
I've experienced a very similar situation with my '99 Max and the problem only got worse over time. What started as an intermittent shake eventually became more pervasive over time and lead to loss of power and service engine soon lights.
With some research and a lucky code reader hit I was able to pinpoint the problem to a misfire in cylinder #5. Maximas are known to have ignition coil issues and it is usually recommended to replace all 6 at once, but since i had a good idea of which one was bad i got a new coil at Auto Zone and just replaced it today. It was a bit of a pain, but definitely do-able (i spent 60 to replace 1 coil rather than have the dealer replace all 6 for nearly a grand). The difference was immediately apparent after driving it around my neighborhood, my Maxima is rejuvenated.
This issue started out, more than a year ago, very much like your own and the problem would come and go, sometimes for more than a month at a time. I just wanted to let you know about my experience, hopefully it can give you some insight into your own. Good luck.

Have you cleaned the IACV? I had a similar problem in my 5spd, whenever id come to a stop, my rpms would dip to ~500rpm the car would shudder a bit then they would go back up. Although it never stalled it didnt do it every time either, i cleaned the TB/IACV and ran some fuel system cleaner in there (BG 44K + 3M fuel injection cleaner) and it cured that problem.
Even if it is a slight miss fire there will be some variation in RPM. Id check the resistance on your coil packs, and while your down there check your plugs.
99's do have coil pack issues so i would definately check that out!

I had this exact same problem when I bought the vehicle used. LONG STORY SHORT. They had the car for over a month, tested every other sensor and replaced timing chain and all that. I had taking it to Firestone of all places for their cheap "lemon test". I was a car noob at that time. I had no clue what it could be. They said it looked like bad ignition coils but they didn't have enough time to narrow down which one. I took this info back to the dealer and they blew me off. After a month of fooling with it they called in their NISSAN GURU, some specialist from California, I'm in Texas, he took one look and said "Did you replace the coils?" they said no. New coils and rumble was gone. Although mine was bad enough of a misfire that I did see an RPM fluctuation but ONLY in idle in D. I agree with a lot of you all, check your ignition coils.

I wanted to see what coil was bad so i swapped coil 1 with 6...and the problem got worst...so is the bad one 1 or 6 or both????any thoughts

FIREWALL
1 3 5
2 4 6
RADIATOR
Before you swap any coils test them individually. With the engine running in park or neutral disconnect each seperate coil individually. If disconnecting that specific coil made the motor rumbling worse then it's good. If it made no difference then it's defective.

You cannot swap coils 1 & 6. You have them confused:

just did the test...everything seems to be fine...all coils work....anything else i can check for....i know i have a hole in my flex pipe...but i covered it up with a patch i got at pepboys...seems to be working...would THAT have anything to do with it

Clean your IACV and TB.

got to clean them this weekend...another question idk if this is ok to do....i know i have a hole/warned out flex pipe..i try to cover it with so muffler wrap for now...do yu guys think it might be the o2 sensors since of that hole in flex pipe.??? if i unplug the 02 sensor can i do the same test as with the coils?

He will not get the result he desires this way because when you place it into N, the shaking goes away. You have to start the car, pull up your emergency hand brake and shift into D. Make sure the car is not moving when your foot comes off the brake pedal. Once that's confirmed, go and disconnect them one by one. The engine will shake but you have to place your hand on top of UIM to feel for the extra shake. If you don't feel the extra shake when you disconnect a particular coil, then that's the one that's failing under load.
If the shaking only occurrs in D then clean the intake:
