Noise from Wheel
Noise from Wheel
Ok, this may sound like a really dumb thing, but its for the less experienced members and also it might just come up in a search if someone has this problem.
If you are ever driving and hear a clunking noise from a wheel when you coast the car, check your wheel nuts. I had this problem from my front left wheel. It maks a noise like a failed bearing when the car is coasting. It goes away when you accelerate or brake. 4 of my wheel nuts were able to be tightened about half a turn with my fingers whe I checked it. I noticed the noise the night before and the next morning I discovered it, so I probably did maybe 50 km with it like that.
Hope this helps anyone.

That happened to me once during a road race, I couldn't figure out the noise but finally I did... I had to replace 3 wheel studs because of it. I swear I torqued all 4 wheels to spec before the race but maybe not? It was scary once I realized that I had almost had front wheel fall of during an actual race.
