Spoiler Light Thread

Hey guys I know there is a write up on how to fix the spoiler LED lights, however I cannot find it and the link I did find it broken. If anyone could send me the link or explain to me how to do it that would be great.

Read this. It should allow you access to the broken/wrong link.

The fix used to be on the main Maxima.Org page. I can't find that page anymore. Anyway, chances are the resistor is burnt out. If you're good with a soldering iron, it won't take much to replace it and the resistors are cheap from Radio Shack. You MIGHT be able to get a replacement light from Spoilerlights.com IF your light has FOUR holes instead of three. They didn't have the direct replacement for mine. I'll try to find the thread or what type of resistor you need and post back.

Look what I just found. This might not be the exact thread you're looking for, but it corroborates what I said. The hardest part of the deal is getting the lens off.

The glue IS strong. We used a very sharp knife to get started then used a flathead to pry it apart. We used a "super" industry grade adhesive to put it back together. In my case, one or two resistors were broken. BTW, I found one thread I had saved, but I have no idea what the URL for it is...The resistor is 22ohms, about $1.00 for th epack from Radio Shack.

Apparently the original glue job on my lens wasn't so great (maybe how water got in causing the component corrosion in the first place) so mine pried apart fairly easy - without breaking.

But I did a thorough job gluing it back together after soldering in the new resistor, so I hope I never have to get it apart again.

And the pack of 2 resistors from Radio Shack WAS about a buck.

I had to remove & pry apart two of them because I swapped the good lights from a maxima w/cracked lens into the good lens of an I30 that had a strip out. The hardest part for me was removing the damn lights from the spoilers. On the I30 one of the plastic screws was IMPOSSIBLE to remove, on the maxima ALL THREE were IMPOSSIBLE to remove!! I had to drill them all out, it was not fun. When it came time to put the light assembly back into the spoiler 3m body molding tape worked perfect, and it still has. That stuff works wonders, especially if you quickly pass a propane torch over it to heat it up once it is applied to one side.
