Difference in drivers axle? Auto vs manual

What is the difference on the drivers axle from autos to manuals?
This would be for non-lsd.
I have alot of axles laying around. Some are autos and some are manuals but i can't tell the difference.

Just for curiosity.
Is the lsd passenger axle the same for auto and manual? If not what is the difference? How is it different from non-lsd?
What about the lsd drivers? How is the auto and manual different? What is the difference between them and non-lsd.

Not sure about the difference between the drivers side, maybe length.

As for passenger side, I think they are all the same, manual, auto, LSD, what ever.

I thought someone here found a difference between the support brackets in 4AT and 5MT passenger axles?

Yes they are different. It's the angle thats different though. Nothing to do with the axle.

Anybody know how to tell them apart? I was told the lines at the end entering the trans depending on if they were horizontal or vertical determined if they were auto or manual. I have used both vertical and horizontal on both manual and auto cars.

Indeed, the only thing I see different is the oil channels on the end.

Hmm...funny thing is, FAST shows that both autos and manuals can both use the same part number inner joint/stub shaft. The center shaft appears to be the same as well.

Surely it's not possible that they're just interchangeable.

Do you happen to have both an auto and a 5 speed laying around up there? I would just start trying them out.

Rock Auto shows a bunch of different variations (1996). Same part # for mt and at if w/o abs and ld. Different numbers for other variations.

The driver's side axle is different between auto and manual, and different between LSD and open diff, so there are 4 different axle shapes for the driver's side.
Some info previously posted by Nealoc187

I have also sent an email to Marty at raxles to see if he can shed some light on the matter.

OK never heard back from Marty.

On the 5 axles I have with vertical oil channels. The inner joint is 1/8 inch
longer on 3 of them compared to the other 2. The other 2 are identical to the 6 axles I have with horizontal oil channels.
So the longer ones must be the manual ones.
