has anyone found their car idles loudly? I thought something was wierd about 2 weeks ago. I started the car and it was fine, but something was louder that usual. I'm still idling at 600 rpm's and the engine responds fine. again, I thought it was me, but then a friend of mine said something. He thought it could have been the power steering, but moving the steering wheel back and forth, there was no additional sound.

I didn't do anything to the engine recently and I'm wondering what it could be. Any suggestions?

 

what does it sound like?

could be exhaust leak, belts, worn out timing components, etc.

I've got some belt noise right now that starts as a ticking sound and turns into a whine after driving for a while...

 

Hmmmm.... I bet that is it... the exhaust! It gets louder when I press the gas. When I did the belts last month, I looked at the exhaust, and I thought I'd be working on it soon, but not a month later! I'll check that out....
