Hesitation upon acceleration/revving...

So I got in my car this morning.. and any time I hit 3,000-3,250 and 4,500-4,750 (roughly) , I get some hesitation and the engine shakes a little... whether I rev it or I'm driving... anyone know what this could be coming from? The night before I put in 89 Octane, but it's never done that before... I got cheap this time and didn't wanna use 91 like I'd normally do...

could be a lot of things... MAF sensor, fuel pump, FPR, spark plugs, coils, injectors... anything

maybe this is just a process of extraction until the problem goes away?

Maybe it was shaking cause it was way of telling you "Don't put 89 in my stomach?!"

I had the same problem, and it was my spark plugs. The 89 octane gas doesn't really hurt anything, just gives crappy mileage and power. I wouldn't try 87 though.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- I replaced one of my coils not too long ago. It feels different than a coil going out though... feels like a fuel/spark cut out.. annoying as f-#&... with 189,000, it could be anything... i think if my compression was bad, the missing/jerking wouldn't be so inconsistent as far as where it's doing it in the rev range...?

I'm so fed up- I've been looking for a 2k2 or 2k3 for over a year now, and in Southern Cali, they're rare. I've checked out AutoTrader and all the nice 6MT Maximas with darker colors and black leather seem to be all back East! I want to get my hands on a BLK/BLK, or a Dark Gray/Blk with a LSD... yum!

...till then I need to get this damn hesitation prob resolved.

try some 93 OCT, and clean the MAF. CRC makes a good cleaning spray. It couldn't hurt (unless you're reckless)

If a coil were to be bad, how could you tell?

your car starts to sound like a wrx and acceleration feels slower.

unplug each coil and if the idle or engine noise changes, than that coil is working. If it makes no difference, than that coil is bad.

I ran 87 for about a year and a half, with resistor in place of the knock sensor. I NEVER had a problem.
Unless there's water in the gas, a (stock) 4th gen doesn't care what gas it drinks.
